Greetings AFN! This is my first journal, so I’ll just get stuck in and try to give you as much information as possible. I’m still very much a beginner and would really appreciate some tutelage from some more experienced growers.
This is my third grow and I’m going for a round of Dinafem – White Widow XXL and Critical+ Auto. I’m growing for medical use and also hoping to stay as organic as possible. With that in mind I’ll give you the full details of the set-up.

Genetics
Dinafem
White Widow XXL x 3
Critical+ Auto x 3

Substrate
Biobizz light mix soil – 60%
Canna pro+ coco coir – 30%
Perlite – 10%
10 litre pots

Light
600w dual spectrum HPS @ 18/6 (Boostable to 660w)

Tent
BudBox 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0

Nutrition and additives
These are the things that I have at my disposal:

Roots – Great White Mycorrhizal, Canna BioRhizo
Nutes – Canna Bio Vega/Bio Flores
Additives – Canna Bio Boost, Canna PK 13/14, Raw Soluble bio-silicon, Raw Soluble cal-mag, cane molasses.

To start the grow I primed the pots with the Great White powder and half the recommended dose of the BioRhizo. This basically involved mixing and watering to run off. I then let the pots sit under the lights for 24 hours to fully drain and come up to temperature. I planted the beans directly into the pot and 48 – 72 hrs later, we have got some positive signs from the ladies.

I started six, but will likely only take four to harvest (picking the two strongest of each strain) I plan on watering them little and often, as recommended in the catalogue. I’d like some advice about this if possible? The soil stays damp for an age; so should I put a small amount like 250ml a day at first? Any advice would be magic. In fact any tips or recommendations in general would be very well received.

Really looking forward to growing with you. If you need more info about anything I'm doing/using in order to help etc , just ask away. I’ll do my best to update regularly.

Hello Dr Oc and thank you for starting this grow diary, this is honestly the best thing you could do as you will get as much help from some excellent growers as possible :toke:

Can I ask are the critical+ auto or photoperiod? and have you gone directly from germination to your finish pots?. I see you are using a compost and coco mix for your substrate which will work great along with the perlite this will create a nice light medium but will still have a npk ratio due to the light mix I believe? so you should have a little nutrient in the medium already?

I would for the beginning start watering little and often. You need to make the plants search the medium for nutrients this will help to get a good root zone and a good root zone 99% of the time equals a happy plant :toke:

Again thank you for getting a grow started on AFN and if you need any help just ask. This is a great knowledgeable community :toke: Also thank you for the added pictures.

All the best

Hi Mark.

Thank you for your response :toke:. The Critical+ are autos; I got the seeds as part of an offer with an order and have been keen to get them in. I germed them in the finish pot, and the light mix is usually good for 2 - 3 weeks. The first feed for previous plants has generally come between day 14 and 19.

I've been thinking about a journal for ages, I'm glad to finally have one going. Thanks again!

I am a huge fan of FGuy. I got it straight away. Please make your way over to intro's and say hello to the guys. eP.

are you sure you are not a real Dr. ????

No problem what so ever. I would definitely make a intro post and welcome to AFN

This is a great community I'm sure you will fit right in and thank you for the info :toke:

Hi eP, I'm glad someone else is a fan. Was worried it may be too obscure lol. I made an intro thread a while ago (maybe 6 wks), but that's likely been burried now. I also just generally lurk in the shadows, but I'm now out in the light. I was doing a round of Pyramid Seeds autos with a buddy, he's now the sole custodian of those ladies, so I'm going with some Dinafem in time for summer hopefully.

Sadly no, I'm not a Dr... But I am a real Octopus!

No worries at all, thank you for dropping in. Been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately, trying to know what's best to do at first is a minefield! Feeling a bit more secure now I got me some back up!

Thanks for the warm welcome too. :toke:

I thought your name was familiar ! So, welcome again.

@Dinafem-Mark I have a quick query for you. By adding the coco to the soil, am I required to adjust the pH at all? I've been aiming for 6.5 - 6.8 when just using soil and perlite. Does the addition of the coco mean I need it a bit lower? Are you able to advise? I'm thinking it shouldn't matter, but would just like to check. Cheers.

Edit: I should have some more pics up over the weekend.

So these are the four girls I'm going with. For the first week of their growth, they were on 24/0 @ 250w. They are now getting used to the 400w setting and have begun the 18/6 light cycle. The plan is to keep them on that until they enter their rapid growth spurt, then I'll up it to 600w. They're being watered in small doses and each had a pinch of bio silicon in their last drink (equivalent 1/8th tsp/gal/3.8litres). Adjusted the pH to soil range, and they seem to be doing fine.

The Great White powder has run out, so I ordered some Orca from the same people. It's a similar product, but in liquid form. I'm giving this a trial to see how it compares to the results I've seen from people who have used Voodoo Juice and Piranha together.

Thanks for looking! :toke:
