Hello all,
2 days shy of going on 5 weeks. The plants are still growing vertical like crazy. I'm hoping they keep growing till the 7th week. Muddy's general grow cycle post explains the vertical growth slows or stops by week 6 -7. Does this mean the plant completely halts the new growth of shoots?

Is it an auto or photo? Autos groth slows down a lot when they start to bud. Certain phenos of the same type stretch a lot and continue to grow their branches. Kind of depends which breed it is also some grow more than others. I know that was about as clear as mud. The growing style also matters and what kind of lights and how far they are away from the plant has an influence. Send more details and I think you can expedt a better answer.

If it is an auto has it shown sex?

Sweet Seeds S.A.D1 Autos that are showing their sex, 250watt mh on an 18/6 light cycle which is approximately 12 - 14in away from the tops. Plan to switch the light to HPS and flowering nutes once the plants show signs of slow - halting vertical growth. This may be my first successfully grow and didn't know if the slow to halting vertical growth was noticeable to a someone who is new(like my self).

Why not switch to flowering nuits now or do you want them to stretch out more. Sounds like everything you are doing is right on to me.

There are 2 reasons that I have not made the switch is every new shoot that grows I see new white hairs forming at the newly grown top shoot. Does that mean more bud sites? Also, Muddy's auto cycle write up suggests the grower wait for the plant to slow it's vertical growth.

Don't be too concerned, you'll know it when it happens. Keep a measuring stick in your grow room and measure your plants every day. You should see some explosive growth over the next few weeks, maybe as much as an inch a day. When you see that growth start to taper off, it's time. During that time your buds won't grow a whole lot. They will sort of look like clusters of white hairs. As the vertical growth slows, the buds will start to grow more. Post some pictures if you can, would love to see how they are doing.

Thanks for stopping by Muddy. Take a look at: https://www.autoflower.org/f44/sweet-seeds-s-d-auto-feminized-journal-5801-2.html I just updated my journal which was long over due. I haven't updated the journal in a while because I'm a bit weary of posting pictures.

LOL, I hear you on the pic updates. I don't update mine often either, often just don't have the time. Sometimes there isn't much difference from day to day or week to week. You're plants are looking great.
