Hi peoples
currently my tent is up in my loft, not ideal at times but it’s my first grow and it’s all I got right now.
I’m drawing in whatever air is in my loft at the time I have no control over this, so on a warm day my loft just gets hotter and hotter until late evening. Im exhausting out through the roof , again not ideal , I would say very roughly 20% of that exhaust heat stays in the loft.
My plan is to core two , four inch holes in my loft wall. Probably 107mm but that’s a different debate lol.
Is there anything I need to know and do to be able to vent direct from the outside, and exhaust to the outside. I checked the negative pressure in my tent , it seems strong enough that it would draw air in without the need for an intake fan , and the ducting will only be 2ft long if that from wall to tent. Any experts out there who could point me in the right direction . Thanks kindly

You need to tell us about the temperatures involved, how hot it gets outside, in the loft and in tent; about your fan; etc. Otherwise, you generally want to draw in cooler and exhaust the warmer air; and you want to exhaust the warmer air away from the tent, ideally outside.

Look around and see how other houses around you handle their loft ventilation. Can you add a simple attic fan, move more air through the loft, even if this means cutting a larger vent? But depending on your climate, you may unavoidably need some cooling, such as a portable AC.

Bit more to it than I thought. My tent can go to 29 degrees for at least hour n half, and takes most of the evening to cool down. It’s a small 2ft 4 ft tent . Large rhino pro carbon filter and 4 inch rvk, both inside tent. Im in the uk so we don’t always have the heat, . Don’t really wanna go ac. It’s a large loft and I’d rather try to keep tent cooler than loft, seems a cheaper option.

Will drawing in outside air help keep those temps down regardless of loft temps?

If outside air is cooler, it will help, but how is your outdoor humidity? Make sure you don’t draw in bugs, too; definitely need a good screen/filter on intake.

Thanks for dropping by . Yes covers have already been ticked off mentally. Not even thought about outside rh, but surely can’t be as much as what’s in my loft. Outside intake won’t be permanent, just the hotter months. Will I need an intake fan? Was hoping just to draw in from tent with the negative pressure. Sorry for all the questions.

Just do it...air exchange is a must anyway and there's always gonna be an adjustment with something.

My setup isn't a loft but I intake fresh outside air 4" 200 cfm centri fan....setup on an inkbird works well along with 4" ac infinity fan/control for exhaust. ...all activate per grow area temps/humidity.
