Just a quickie ...

Anyone got advice or strong preferences for extraction fans?
i.e make/model

Options for Europe delivery needed.

For a newbie, making first extraction purchase, it can be overwhelming and confusing!

Examples:
Extraction and passive intake? OR
Fans for in and out?

Calculation for m³/hr air flow?
I've seen all kinds of versions.

Ducting ... the stuff that looks like a cheap Liberace slinky in shiny silver onesie ... the full on acoustic ... or the inbetweener?

Filters? ... where to start ...

Grow Shop Kits or build-your-own combo?

You get the idea ...

In other words .... H - E - L - P

The variable for a grow room are endless. With that being said, air management also has endless options. A quick run down of room size, lighting, expectations, CO2, ect. would be necessary. If you are just looking for name brands I could help you with that also, but i assume that you are looking for what YOU need personally and not on a general basis. :)

Room Size: 150 x 300
Lights: 2 x 600w GroGlo LED
Expectations: optimise conditions to maximise 6 plants
CO2: not initially, but would certainly want the 'head room' for future upgrading

Never been a 'brand name' junkie ... but always been a 'quality is cost effective over time' kinda guy.
So can justify upfront outlay, if the amortisation over time proves it to be more cost effective.
i.e. value for money is the driving factor.

Well I'm gonna say you have 8ft ceilings. So you have 5x7x8 room approximately 275 ft3. So you would want a fan that will displace all the air in the room every 5 mins or so. Can be less also. I would get a 6" booster style fan. They are rated for 400+ cfm and you want a filter that is rated the same. You could also get a fan controller which will lower the flow of the fan. It's good for climate control like pulling colder air in from outside or keeping the warmer air in from the lights. I've used the ipower fan and filter and they work good for the price. I got them both on Amazon. With CO2 you will want a sealed room so the fan/filter isn't really needed unless you are pulling outside air to cool lights but that's mostly hid lights. I want to say a booster fan, filter, and controller can be had for about 200$ usd.

Every 5 minutes?

Hmmm ... there was one guide that suggested it needed to be every minute!

So, for a 5' x 10' x 7' [1.5 x 3.0 x 2.3] the calculation it gave came out at 828m³/hr.
l x d x h x 60 x 1.3333 = m³/hr

Getting a fan + filter for that level of cfm can get feckin' expensive real fast!

The other concern I have is the quality of air being sucked in to the room, if passive intake only.
Grow room is in the basement.
The last thing I need/want is for basement dust and mold spores to be sucked into my girls' environment, and force fed to them, at the rate of 828m³/hr.

So confused ...

Decision made.
Extraction fan ordered, awaiting delivery.
