Long story short my Grow cabinet has a small pc fan low pulling fresh air in and than 2 more pc fans on top exhausting the air. Both fans are inside the cabinet mounted against holes cut into the back wall of the cabinet. In order to connect a carbon filter I ran some 4" round pipe with a 6" booster fan on the outside of the cabinet connecting to the exhaust hole. My question is should I disconnect the pc fans? My initial thought was they would provide extra cfm feeding the booster fan. But now I think they may actually be restricting the air flow. What would work best for this situation?

If you have an outtake with that kind of ability I would say remove them. The different fan speeds would impede flow. The pc fans would be taxed just trying to spin to match the 6in. fan suction. Just an opinion:pass:

not sure on the cfm ratings, but id think the 6" booster would murder the 120mm pc fans.the lil fans may be in the way causing a restriction to the airflow.
not just disconnect but remove from the airpath.
just a theory from an eejit, sorry i have no idea.
:pighug:

Thanks for the replies. I will be taking them off the back wall but turn and keep them in the cabinet to move the warm air around the light. Instead of exhausting the air they will move the air across the top of the cabinet. Thanks again!

What about the fresh air intake fan? Would that be restricting the fresh air going into the cabinet? Or would the fan help pull a bit more fresh air into it?
