Hello all,

I'm looking for some clarification on auto-flowers light types, not cycles.

I'm using a top shelf Duolux 600 LED light that has four LED cobs for the vegetation phase and lights for flowering.

I am currently growing Bubba Kush auto, Girl Scout cookies auto aunt Chemdawg auto. Light cycles are 19 on / 5 off.

The question I have is - should I be using the vegetation lights until I see flowers or should I just use flowering lights the entire time because these are auto strains?

Thank you,

ChaoticGood

If you have to switch between spectrums then you are right in thinking of switching somewhere around the start of flower. You can also use the different spectrums to control height a bit, if you leave it on veg mode during the beginning of flower you should have less stretch than if you switched to flower mode right away. If you can run it at full spectrum that's what would theoretically give max production. LEDs can however sometimes make the nodes stack too tightly and you may want a bit of stretch.

Also, welcome to afn dude! :bighug:

Thank you surffreak for the info and the welcome :) :toke:

Ok, I'll give the vegetation cycle a good go for four weeks or maybe 5 weeks then switch to flower lights regardless of flowers showing.

Here are the plants in current state.

Left is bubba Kush auto, right next to that GSC auto and the solo rider is Chemdawg auto.

The Bubba has longer stems wheras the GSC and Chemdawg are staying low in 5-gallon DWC.

I think you'd be good to switch about 2 weeks into true flowers (not first signs of sex) showing, the flower spectrum will help bulk up the weight more than veg spectrum once they really get to blooming.

Looking sweet man, but I do see a tad bit of a phosphorous deficiency in the lower leaves in the first pic.

What are you feeding with and at what strength?

I am a proponent of utilizing the lights full spectrum setting as soon as the germed seeds are planted. I believe that helps with my yields as well.

I was trying to figure out what was causing the browning on the leaves, thank you.

Well, because I was away, the plants didn't get fed for a few days so I'm not surprised at the deficiency. I thought it might be a pH problem.

I'm just passed the third week and provided almost full nutrient (per schedule) of General Hydroponics standard (Micro, Gro, Bloom). I also like to add a little bit a liquid seaweed and this time added a little Hydroguard to protect the roots.

Autowonders - would switching to full spectrum now cause the plant to flower or keep it in its current growth because it's an auto-flower?

Thank you again.
