....This may seem like a stupid question but if I bought a CMH 315w bulb from the U.S.A.....will it work ok in the UK?....dude to the different voltage on the national grid?

What says the text on the box or glass bulb?
No notification of Voltage?

Oh...
The stem splitting thing will be a first-timer for me dude...but the way these Dragonfruit ladies have turned out..:d5:..I thought it a good opportunity....:smokeit: basically all you do is put a cable tie around the stem, about 1" above where you want to cut (I would think!)and another cable tie 1" below the cut.
Then using a thin, sharp blade, cut straight thru the main stem, leaving the blade in the stem.
Next you twist the blade a little bit, thus opening the cut stem. Then insert toothpicks through the cut and draw the blade out and hey presto!...split stem technique....I think the science behind this is it creates 2 independent ways for the plant to draw feed....and it shocks the plant right at the end of the life cycle, apparently making the plant bolster it's defenses, in the form of trichomes..... Nooice!....but like I said dude never done it b4 and I suppose I am sceptical about it.....but I won't find the answers to my questions by NOT doing it dude haha!!..ofc it will be written up and pictured step by step, then posted right here on AFN......also, I read a
Royal Queen Seeds tutorial on it yesterday?.....maybe?....but it says to do this stem split a few days b4 harvest....but I think I am gonna do it about a week before, see what, if anything, happens dude.:bighug::bighug::muahaha::muahaha:
Found this the other night when that troll was posting...Looks like a interesting study and could be related to what you are wanting to accomplish with the stem splitting...:d5:

Hello Bob..:bighug: :toke: ...I haven't bought one yet bro, CMH bulbs are quite expensive and I just wanted to know before I let the cash go hehe rhyme every time!...anyway, I have a Sun Systems reflector that requires a vertical bulb position...and I have run my Philips bulb in it before now successfully....but the Hortilux Eye 315w BU is the only bulb I know of made to use "base up" and I don't think I can get them in the UK!

..and this is the reflector...

Ok, it uses 1.45A at 240V, so you can use it as long as the ballast is compatible with the light and your socket is PZGX18 (bi-pin) compatible.
I do find it strange that their website is offline/faulty as you get a Wordpress login...Doesn't give me confidence in their products if they can't keep their site online, get me? Prices are definitely way lower Stateside then over here...But you might find a deal on some Dutch websites? Maybe no Hortilux, but surely you must be able to find something with a decent shipping cost...

Thanks Bob, I really wasn't sure about the electrical stuff...all the CMH 315w I have come across are PZGX18 and use a square wave frequency ballast too dude so I should be ok there with my current set up... it's the "Base up" aspect I was interested in, as no other9 bulb I have found states this way of use....plus dude, CMH bulbs are fragile things and idk about overseas post with them...and you are right about the confidence in the company thing too bro:thanks::thanks::bighug:

Hello AFN...did some work on the SeedStockers Thunder Banana Auto today AFN....they are now so stretched out....I almost, almost feel sorry for them....but not really haha....when I have them all spread out like this tho...I have to be careful with the single node facing upwards bcoz they want to become the mains(maybe one day I will let one do it?)so I slow them down by cutting the leaves and bend them down and into unused space...and I taped up the split with foil tape to give it some strength....I like using this for splitz bcoz I usually just leave it on, and when the plant is healed and grows...it just splitz the tape as there is no give in it.....boom!

Hello AFN..:smoker1:..got some pics from the tent o' torture for you:muahaha::muahaha:....the SeedStockers Thunder Banana Auto are feeling good after a grievous tie down session yesterday, they are up and praying to the light well..:jump:..and the side stems are nearly strong enuff, so that when I move the hooks up....it will hold and won't have what I call "Negative Bend!" which is when you move a hook up and the new bit of stem you have moved up, is not strong enuff to hold the stem down and it bends the wrong way!!

next up are the Dutch Passion Skywalker Haze Auto that have started to move a bit now, with some fattening up of their first serrated leaves...
