- My fan leaves arent green or yellow but right in between
- Dont know what day im at because i wanted to be a "real farmer" and just
be able to look at my plant and "know" when its ready.:smokeit:
- 95% red hairs
- 10-15% Amber / 85-90% cloudy
- Just gave her 0-50-30 Beasty Boolms Fertz last night

the trykes are tellin me sheʻs ready but the plant just looks to healthy. both are super frosty

so my question is do I chop her down already because thats what the trykes are telling me ( i was aiming for more of a head high with a little body), or should i start flushing for a week or to since my fan leaves still have some green in them?

I wanna just chop her down but i dont want the smoke to be harsh given a gave her full juice fertz 18 hours ago. anyone ever smoked reefer juiced with fertz? How was it?

:peace:

Thats about perfect for trychomes, much longer and they will start to degrade and lose potencey.:booya:

If your leaves are about half yellow, they probably could go for another 2 weeks but by then may be a little past the high you're looking for. I would suggest a compromise, flush for a week, then chop. I'm not familiar with those nutes but if they are chemical, they can leave a nasty taste.

Trichs are currently the most accurate method of judging harvest no matter what the fan leafs say
you should have flushed a week earlier youve already missed the head high as you wanted very few ambers

Then how do you gauge the many strains that don't amber? No, leaves are still the best method for judging autos, especially for the uninitiated.

To answer your q with another q how do you judge a strain where the fan leafs dont yellow?
You use the next best method such as pistols 90% ripe etc..
Please note trichs are still the most preferred method quoted by ed who has a botanist degree or cervantes and subcool infact in every published book i have read or breeder

You didn't answer my question, how do you tell when to harvest an auto that doesn't amber? I've yet to see a strain that didn't have fan leaves that yellowed. It's the natural process that the plants go through as they mature and head to their end of life. I assume you are referring to Ed Rosehthal? I could be mistaken but as far as I know he has never grown autos, only photos, and as we all know, autos are a different story. Same for Cervantes and Subcool. With photos I always go by the trics, but with autos the leaves are still the best way. With a little experience it become very easy to look at the plant and tell when it's ready.

Most autos are mostly photo dom strains now id bet over 90% genetics wise so i would think the resin will be virtually identical to a photo strain.
I still think pistols come in second and I have had fan leafs not yellow more common in high fed hydro as the plant does not need to draw the nutrient from them as theres plenty available
ed does have a section on autos now but i do not know if hes grown them

There are still many aspects of autos that aren't well understood, such as the hormones that trigger flowering. Till someone does a complete botanical study of the plant we really won't know how similar or dissimilar they are to photos. I've not grown any autos in hydro so you may well be correct regarding that. But the percentage of hydro grown autos is very small compared to those grown in soil or soil less mediums. Pistols aren't always a good indicator either. I've had some strains show 90% or better colored pistols around week 8, a good 2-3 weeks before they were ready to harvest and with a majority of the trics still clear. I'll go with the the look of the plant and it's leaves every time and will still stress that as the best method, especially for new growers and the uninitiated.
