Hey all,

I have not been here for awhile, but I have found nothing treats my issues as good as some good bud! I have my tent set up and ready to start growing again. Problem is, I had some seeds that I had stored for awhile and I am trying to germinate them and am not having any luck.

I have them in the little peat pods and in their enclosed tray. I have a heat mat under the tray and I wet them and have been waiting for about 5 or 6 days so far and have no action. Now, I do realize the seeds are old and maybe just not any good anymore.

The big problem is, they are the only seeds I have and money is short. I also put some in wet paper towels inside zip lock baggies and I am waiting to see if they germ.

I thought there was a new growers forum on here?

I have grown before, I have grown Mi5 & Russian Rocket Fuel so I am not by any means a pro, I do have enough knowledge to be dangerous..., but I consider myself a new grower again.

Any ideas??

I recently tried to germinate some six-year-old seeds and had no luck. I tried multiple things from scuffing the outside to scratching them to letting them soak 3 days three days in a glass of water and they still didn't sink. The older the seedstock The longer it will take to germinate. So there is still hope for you. I have read many things about germinating older seeds when I was attempting it. A lot of people seem to have success by adding a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the water they were using to germinate. Some people lightly scuffed the outside of the seed with sandpaper to help the water go through easier. Unfortunately none of these methods worked for me and my seeds began to rot. I had to purchase new ones.

Thanks brother, maybe I'll try a little hydrogen peroxide!

I actually had them inside their packets, inside a coffee can. They were exposed to fluctuations in temps, I had them in an outbuilding.

That's gonna be tough, for future tefrefere I keepine in the freezer... How many do you have left?

Also dispersible/soluble asprin, about a 1/4 of a tablet in the water improves germination. It has a rooting hormone in it. Look it up!

Sent from my comfy chair.

I have the autos I have left either in peat pods or in wet paper towels inside Ziploc bags. So if these don't crack, I'll have to buy some new beans.

One of the older fellas on here uses a small amount of gibberellic acid in his water. He says he's popped years old seeds he thought were dead like that.
