Truu's electrical help thread.

Howdy folks.

This thread will be dedicated to any of your electrical needs. Whether it be a question about your growing setup, or if you just need help around the house. I have many years of electrical experience in residential, commercial, and industrial fields.

Just ask your question as detailed as possible, throw in some pics if needed. The more info I can get, the better I can understand what you need. It is also a good idea to let me know if you are from over seas, for I am not lol.

hi all have a question know nothing about electrical except there are watts and volts question is i have two blackstar 240s i want to plug into timer but dont have enough cord to reach my power strip can i plug both lights into the timer and the timer into an extention cord to the power strip and is that and the 4in exhaust fan and a small ossilating fan to much for the power strip

Namspy your good man. The power strip is good for 15 amps. And An extension chord will be just fine as long as its not 100ft long lol.

thanks truu i was hoping so thanks for the help

Hi Truu

I have a small grow space that houses a sump pump. There is a single outlet aluminum gang box in there. I will plug a GCFI like this

http://www.amazon.com/Tower-Manufac...+Plug+And+Triple+Tap+Cord+Set+With+Auto+Reset

and run a surge suppressor with timer...through that. I will run a Cal Light Works 200W LED (165W, 1.4amp) 20/4, and a 6 inch exhaust fan 24/7, and a small humidifier, and a small clip fan. Any red flags? Thanks for your time.

Your setup looks good to me. Just add up your total amperage of your grow room gear. As long as its not a constant 15 amps you're good.

i have bought two digital 600 watts hps and they said you could run them on 220 volt but do not know how to wire them up.look in side and all the wires are soldiered.any other way to wire them up ??

Hey bobo, digital ballast come pre wired with a chord that has a male/female plug to fit only that certain ballast. I'm fairly certain that all you have to do is order the 220v chord for that ballast from the company you bought it from. The ballast I use are prewired for both 120v and 240v. I would not recommend re-wiring it when you should be able to buy another chord.

:thread: Thats why I let my pops install a 20A breaker.cuz what you dont know can kill you.I have a fair amount of electrical dealings and wont mess with it unless I have no choice.LOL!To pose a queary if I may,to help reduce the risk of Eddy currents if one did rewire a Ballast/Light setup. How would one reduce to chances of them happening as often or even altogether.??Thank you.
