Truu's electrical help thread.

Howdy folks.

This thread will be dedicated to any of your electrical needs. Whether it be a question about your growing setup, or if you just need help around the house. I have many years of electrical experience in residential, commercial, and industrial fields.

Just ask your question as detailed as possible, throw in some pics if needed. The more info I can get, the better I can understand what you need. It is also a good idea to let me know if you are from over seas, for I am not lol.

Personally I would just use a protected power strip (length depending on how tall you need the side lighting to be) and plug in the bulbs to the strip and voila= side lighting. Of course you may have to be creative on how you hang or mount the strip depending on your tent.

I have power strips, and I got Velcro straps I could use. That's my project for tomorrow.
Peace to all:peace:

Your setup may be different than mine, BUT, in my room I would buy the sockets that have heavy duty alligator grips (buy them at walmart). Then put a Y socket in it. Put a power strip in the center of my ceiling and use chains to hang the lights. Plug the power strip into a timer and BAM your ready to go.

ALSO, make sure your power strip is rated for the amount of wattage you will be using.

And now that you've brought this up, I think I am going to do this for the winter as well. Thanks for the idea bro!

Bought a 400w electrical oil radiator for warmth during the winter months. Grow box is about 5ftx3ftx3ft. Would you think its safe to be left on for the full duration of the grow?

Yes, as long as it keeps temps in line.Im sure it has a thermostat and you might have to play with that to get the temps right. just don't keep it to close to the plants.

Thanks namvet. I can get the temps spot on using the rad, the only slight problem is it can really dry the air and the humidity falls quite low.

If you have room you can put a couple of buckets of water in the tent with a fan blowing over them, this might bring the humidity up a little.

I don't see why it wouldn't be safe. 400w doesn't pull much so you should be ok.

Hi Truu My ? is ,what is going on with my new light system, it seem to be pulsing, not really blinking but on the 600 watt switch it is Pulsing if you understand? On a lower output on the switch,(400 of 250) there is no pulsing! Is this a Ballast problem or a bulb problem?
