Truu's electrical help thread.

Howdy folks.

This thread will be dedicated to any of your electrical needs. Whether it be a question about your growing setup, or if you just need help around the house. I have many years of electrical experience in residential, commercial, and industrial fields.

Just ask your question as detailed as possible, throw in some pics if needed. The more info I can get, the better I can understand what you need. It is also a good idea to let me know if you are from over seas, for I am not lol.

No problem dude, electricity is nothing to take lightly, so im glad you asked.

Hey rabbit thanks for stopping in. It took me a while to learn, I'm a hands on kind of guy. I can put the theory in my head once my hands learned it.

Lol cody. DC theory isnt bad, AC isnt bad. Now when they start teaching Vectors in AC theory...now thats the devil. I bet theres .05% electricians who actually use that stuff.

Come on someone throw some questions my way. I got to stay sharp here!

fine.... i have a challenge for you. I want you to build a homemade flipper box that will run two 12/12 rooms off of one 600w ballast and keep the build under 75 dollars and pictorial it so that i can build one or better yet how about you just overnight that to me as well and i can save the hassle. :D

Lol alright tshirt I'll do my best here. You could possibly get a china made magnetic ballast and run a 300w bulb in each room. And get a 2 pole double throw time clock so when one room goes off the other one will come on. As for keeping it all under 75$, well sir unless you want these materials to last for 2 weeks and burn your house down, that's almost impossible!

After thinking about the ballast situation, I'm not sure if you could run 2 bulbs off 1 ballast. Unless it was an electronic ballast then you would probably have to buy one that is rated for 2.

Hey truu ... I am wanting to upgrade to digital ballasts.. do u Reakon I would save on Electric £££ by upgrading I am currently running 2 400's hps
Many thanks

Hey Philly. Sorry to say but you won't be saving any money. Your electric bill is measured in true power (wattage). So no matter what ballast you use you'll still be paying for 400w.

However, you will be running more efficiently. Because electronic ballast are more efficient than magnetic.

lol truu i asked for a relay switch on a timer rated for 600w as one ballast would do a 12/12 run but the ballast itself would stay on.....
