Hey AFN-

I mixed up some FFOF and FFHF (50/50) then added a bag of Fertilome perlite, put it in pots and left it outside. The soil tested a 6.4pH.
Then it rained. I thought that would be great, but now (2 days later) the soil tests at a 7.0pH.

I want to transplant some seedlings to it but I am wondering if I should flush the pots with some 6.2 water or just transplant as is and hope that the soil returns to it's original pH.

Any advice is welcome...

THanks :peace:

Hey stash,

PH 7 is fine for seedlings fella. Personally I'd just plant and water at 6.5 next time they need it.

:peace:

im not sure but if the original soil mix was 6.4 unless you keep adding higher than soils base ph, it will buffer back down i think?? but hold up and ask some of the others cause ph and me have not been on talking terms lately!! lol ..hold tuff youll get a solid answer

Thanks BB - most of me thinks "How bad could rain water really be?". Then agin, I don't wanna kill em before they get started.

PH is a bitch. I'm right there with you.

In theory it should only be bad if it's been left to sit and buildup loads of shit in it.. but fresh fro the clouds is pretty good actually. Many growers collect it and use it sraight away whenever they can because it's high in instantly available nitrogen.

The only thing getting locked out at PH 7 is (I think) manganese, iron and boron but those are used in pretty small quantities, so as the ph drops in the soil over time they become available.

Crack on chap. You have nothing to worry about. :peace:

You're welcome. I accept pay pal, postal orders or naked women as payment :D

7.0 isn't terrible but I highly recommend getting that back in range to 6.5 before putting anything in there. That way you are right on from the very beginning, which is the way to be. Good luck.
