For THAT is the question! Whether tis nobler in the plant to suffer...

Seriously. What's your experience with trimming larger fan leaves on your autos? Do you bother? If you do, what has been your experience with their responses?

I defoliates allot, I do it early to slow a plant and make it busy. I do it all the way through to the end. I believe it helps release natural plant hormones that increase yield if done well. I seem to do it badly at least 15-20% of the time.

So I went ahead and did a major trim, but I did it after LST, so I only chopped leaves that were causing too many shadows. From 2 plants, still ended up with a respectable 2 4L pails of leaves, which are now freezing for a future use. So, I guess I did both options that seem to be flooded on this forum (which is probably also why so few responses were here), plant manipulation and trimming leaves. We'll see what happens!

I trim, but mostly leaves that don't look right, and/or when I clear the bottom of the plants for light and air circulation. On autos, I avoid taking more than maybe 3 or 4 leaves on one day, unless there's a problem.

You should plan what leaves are going and why, then execute at a pace that doesn't stunt your plant. I remove leaves only if they're damaged, touching something (which will cause damage), or blocking light and air.

In the nicest way possible!! Bwahahaha

You do all of that to autos? All conventional wisdom says that won't really DO much to them, since they have a linear lifespan, unlike photoperiod plants, which you could effectively have indefinitely.

Not doubting, just wanting clarification.

As to what I did, I trimmed all the leaves that were blocking flower sites, and all that looked bad. Then did more LST to the branches. Then watered the plants. Neither seems any worse for wear. Guess time will tell.
