Here are a couple of things new growers should consider when buying Cannabis seeds, particularly if shipping is International.

First, don't use your own credit card! I am constantly hearing of new buyers purchasing seeds and having problems.

What I suggest, get a disposable "reloadable" credit card...Mastercard sells them here in Canada at a number of popular grocery stores...Find out how much your online order is going to be in advance..be sure to include shipping, exchange rate differentials as well as service charges..Then merely load up the credit card when you buy it.(anyone can get no credit required) ..some of these credit cards charge a monthly rate to maintain a balance so keep this in mind...Anyway, this is an anonymous way to make international purchases.

Second, consider having the seeds sent to an address other than the place you intend to grow...perhaps to a friends, you might even consider using an alias if you're paranoid..

anyway..just thought I'd pass on a couple pointers to help newbies looking to buy seeds...

Anyone else have any thoughts or ideas that may help new growers...post away.

Cheers

I use my credit card so when or if it is compromised I don't have to wait or lose my cash. Insured.
As far as using your own address, would it be a big issue for the recreational grower in a rural setting?
I do see the need in a city.
Great thread Mr. Toad.

I use my own credit card, and have seeds shipped to my real address without any trouble.
Perfectly safe.

I know someone who mailed a package to a friend, and apparently something inside began to smell, because it got confiscated.
The receiver and sending address were both sent a notification that the package was in violation, and offered a chance to pick up the package.
Decline.
That happened about a year ago, and there have been no repurcussions.

With MJ becoming legal in more and more places, I think law enforcement is getting lax.

Hey Mach
For me, due to the ambiguity and constantly changing cannabis laws, I'd rather lose a package and a few bucks rather than get put on some watch list...You never know if you're package was identified yet still permitted to reach its destination so as to not raise suspicion of person ordering the seeds...just a thought.
Second, sure were all able to grow plants in Canada...but strains and authorized seed sellers are still a bit of a mystery..As for post office boxes and rural addresses...if someone comes looking for whatever reason They'll be able to follow the path...

Simplicio
My thoughts are..just because you're received the package doesnt mean someone doesnt know what you have...You've got to think the government, as much as they've fucked up most aspects of legalization in Canada are keeping a watchful on packages that have come from Spain and Holland...There must have been a massive spike in frequency of mail and packages originating from these two countries since legalization...I think we'd be naive to assume packages from these countries arent getting extra scrutiny..:
Lastly, considering Canada's poor track record of protecting the rights of it citizens internationally, and the US's willingness to ban Canadians from entry in spite of legalizing Cannabis in numerous States..:makes one pause..

Just some food for thought..

Not a path most want to follow... Big dogs!! lol

Have to watch out with those pre-paid credit cards,Tried 4 or 5 over the years and not a single one would let me do an international purchase and also wouldn't let me use it at 99% of online retailers except for amazon lol

Thats the only way I do my purchases and have had no problems

Many have no problems at all just paying (sending) cash for seeds.

This thread is terrible advice. The best way to arouse suspicion is to use a different name on a package. They know who lives where and a random name or alias is a BIG red flag.

Also just use bitcoin most seedbanks accept bitcoin. Lots of reloadable credit cards still require registration to use for international purchases.

I do agree with having the package delivered to an address with no illegal growing. But for the most part there are millions of packages sent across the world daily and a non smelling personal seed package from Holland or Spain isn’t going to be a red flag. Just don’t order a ton of seeds at once so that incase they do get picked you don’t look like a commercial grower.
