:smoking: Groff, that's what I hear, and (unfortunately) so do the noob's,... but only after one gets decently informed about how and why coco is different, the CEC peculiarities one must compensate for, do and do-not's specific to coco (like how to do proper flushing vs soil), and pounding the fundamental concept into peoples heads that coco is NOT soil, or even peat-soilless! -- I can bitch some, coz of all the issues that pour into Sick Bay over the lack of grip on these thing when people just jump into coco without doing any homework! .... But after seeing what can be done in coco, and it fabulous positive properties, it's very enticing,...
...question mate: when you prerinse brick coco, do you use a Ca-Mg solution to do it with, so as to charge-up the Ca/Mg binding ahead of time? ..and/or a rinsing agent, like Clearex or Sledgehammer? Oh, regarding flushing in coco, if needed, I read that a specific solution for doing this needs be made up-- RO/DI water with 150ppm Ca-Mg, 150 ppm nute's, pH'ed to 6.0... pour through until run-off is near or at same as going in,... true? It does make sense, in order to not FUBAR the CEC balancing act going on in there,...
Bum, how old is that seedling now? I see some yellowing on the new leaves starting which says there's something in there she doesn't like still,... if pH is OK, then it's a nutritional/toxicity issue likely,... Groff, I'm thinking it's a shitty batch of coco, maybe with too much Na+ or K+ in it still? ...guess we'll see when that Haze pops up,...
whaaaah?? Not meant for seedlings?! Well, whaddya expect from a company that calls their coco a "peat"! Groff again is spot-on couldn't say it better myself!
... Hey Bum , do you have a TDS or EC meter? And some of that same coco around? I'd like to see what kind of pH/ppm you get from a test pot of it,... fix it up, even a qt/L size will do for this purpose,... soak it with your usual water (take a pH/ and EC/TDS reading of it first!), let it sit for a couple hours, then test,... if you want to play some, rinse it through and see how it responds,... there might be some clues or answers in this,...
