Grow Mediums Time to get a REAL PH meter!

I drowned my Hanna meter months ago. 2 Chinese cheapies have died within days of each other, but thankfully I had them. I decided I wanted the best I could afford . I looked at BlueLab, Hanna, HM, etc. All good meters to a point. But for the bluelab price and their inconsistent reviews, I wanted better. Si I did a lot of research and decided on the EXTech ExStick PH100, and lab quality pen from Flir, who makes top shelf meters for many fields, their various meter used in computer networks are considered the best. I recieved it today and tested and calibrated it. Now my poor girls can get a res change!

I'd like to add, SOMETIMES spending more gets you more. Sometimes it just strokes your ego. I try to discern the difference and I'm usually skeptical of high priced items built for utilitarian jobs, like grow light, etc. Time will tell if this was a good investment or not, and if not I WILL report that!

I've been maintaining my built-in pool for over 30 years...and I'm color blind! had to have a good PH meter, digital. This is exactly the one I chose and have been using it for my 1st grow!

Looks like a really nice meter. I checked their site and they had one that's almost the same that also checks conductivity (TDS) that I might have to check out in the future. I like my Bluelab, but starting to find out just how VERY fragile the pH probe for it is.

This seems like a nice feature, but concerns me some as well. Mostly curious if it's a random thing or more of a scheduled maintenance item as from what I could see, the probe costs about half as much as the meter. Did you find anything in your research to indicate what the average life expectancy for a probe might be?

Hey pop!!!! Been a while and for some reason, this popped up as one of the first threads to check out.. When I get back to my area from travel, and begin growing again, THIS will be the pH meter I will get for all of my needs. It's an all-in-one, but I know a few folks who have it and they swear by it!! Plus, the price isn't as bad as some of the other realtime meters.
