I live in the San Joaquin Valley of California and it is hot and dry here in the summer 50+ days over 100°F with <25% humidity. I run a swamp cooler (evaporative cooler) 4 or 5 months out of the year. It saves me about $250.00 in energy per month compared to running the AC but raises the indoor humidity to over 60% and keeps the house just under 80°F. These are the starting environmental conditions before entering my grow tent. As you can imagine the numbers just go up from there. I am looking at 95°F and 84%+ humidity. I grow photoperiod tropical sativa strains helped by CO2 in the summer. The strains I grow are genetically evolved to those conditions. Then during the winter months when conditions are more controllable I grow autos leaning toward indica to round out my medicine chest. It works well for me.

Since we just got legal here I am planning a more permanent grow room which will include a small room AC. This may change my approach to strain choices?

What strain is getting you 6oz per auto? Damn I think the most Ive ever gotten from an auto is close to 3oz tops. Usually average 1.5oz per

I ran a bunch of Dutch Passion outdoors this season and managed to pull 5oz per plant on the average while running Colorado cookies, Auto ultimate, Brooklyn Sunrise and Daiquiri LIme. The Daiquiri and Auto ultimate pull huge plants, especially indoors. But that's not what's is important really. What is important is yield per square foot. I was stunned when I did the math and realized that autos grown properly will exceed photos in yield in the same space easily. I'll continue to grow photos to keep plant number lower, but autos have proven themselves to me in a very big way.

Wow those are some pretty hardcore grow conditions! Please throw down strain names that do well for you in those conditions. Its often someone inquires about strains that do well in hot humid.

yeah Auto extreme OLDER super auto strains are good. the HBSS as mentioned, the moonstone amnesia is good too. Dutch Auto(spliff seeds) was a decent yield for thin OD done sati buds. these are all(among others I have grown and seen grown well) good yielding strains, even in living organics so if you do chem in any form I would imagine your yields would be solid. and I know for me personally if i grow solid genetics with an almost method style of growing time and time again,i will always get(short of a more serious temp or shocking issue) the same yield everytime I grow within a handful of grams. two i personally trust for that but there are others as well, that have good, usually consistent ime.

I too love autos AND Photos. wished I had more space inside to do them as well. but heck man,do both, faster solid quality, variety ...WHY LEAVE autos is the more pertinent query imho LOL :D best of luck to you in any and all endeavors you choose. :)

Mephisto has some decent yielding strains wit good potency. My highest yielding plant was a Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate, coming in a little over 12 ounces. Was it the most potent smoke? No, but it wasn't bad by any means.

I personally have gotten a little tired of inconsistencies as well and I am doing my first photo grow as we speak. I'm in no time crunch, so I'm vegging them into some proper sized bushes before I flip to 12/12.

hbss, chemdogging, think, all regularly give me over 3oz under a hs1, but for me its running a perpetual in a small space that i love autos for.
Also i know friends that grow photos and stick with them for years because they have a good mother etc, so i also like the diversity.
Third reason i like autos is probably this site, i dont log in much but i know if i get a problem and ask for advice , i will get good advice and not abuse or shitty replies, so this in turn has made growing autos for me into a more positive experiance.
Good growing to everyone.
