There's a fungus amoung us! Seed germination problem.

I recently purchased 3 WOS AKR seeds.
I have always just put seeds in water until they crack and then planted them.
This time I did that with two of the seeds, but didn't look real closely at them when i planted them. One sprouted and died before the cotyledons even opened, the other never spouted.
Popped the last one in some water two days ago, looked at it to see if it had cracked and the damn thing had hairy fungus on it!
1st Question, can this be prevented?
2nd is it still possible for this seed to be viable?
3rd could this have been the reason the other two didn't make it?

Hey Gtron...sorry on ur lose..but I have had my probs too with mold n seeds buds etc... I have been testin some things against that..as I do have spores in the house and the heat here is 2 much at time..I now germ with h2o2...I use 1 tsp n half to a cup of water I bottle that after but I use this water to germ my seeds..I stopped with paper towel as for some reason now after Idk how many years it just wont work anymore so I am using natural cotton from the tree..and soak it in h2o2 water mix with the seeds inbetween them..and I have no probs germin unless the seed has a prob. after germ and I put the seed into dirt I will also use a lil of the same h2o2 water mix to water the seed and a lil around..again no probs..I just lost a NLxBB seed well being dumb took ole dirt mistakinly and put my germed seed in it and didnt follow this way seed didnt come up went lookin for it and yup a bit of fuzz and some weird lil white worms were in there..put some h2o2 mix on it worms n fuzz were gone but seed was dead by then..

Also took some seeds form a moldy bud sprayed a mix of gse n water into my hand and rub the seeds in that works with h2o2 also and then let the seeds dry..and I still get good germ on those moldy ones...whew sorry for da rant but try that..to see if it help..aslo could be your dirt..so
