Mephisto Genetics The On-going Mephisto farm thread!

Sorry dude you misunderstand, The reversal of females is only done to make feminised seeds. We breed generations f1-f3 as regular stock, then when we make f4 seeds and onwards we feminise.

We make all of our strains from scratch, beginning with a photoperiod and an autoflower as parents, then it takes 4 generations to make the autoflowering trait stable, that's when we release our seeds. we don't ever have enormous stock levels so once the amount of seeds for sale starts to get low, we then make more and inbreed for another generation whilst doing it, which is what we are doing in the photo above.
We are making more auto blues, which will be f5 feminised seeds.

Hope that makes sense?

cheers, mitch
With all the inbreeding how long untill you neeed to worry about loosing hybrid vigor?

I understand there are afew varieties of autos that you can top, but this is my first grow so even though I plan on a scrog grow, no topping this round. Nice to know you have the skills to pull off topping your plants. I figure the issue with topping will become mute as more sativas are bred into the auto lineage, it will just take the plants longer to flower, like photos. Autos have come an incredably long way in a stunningly short time. Its because of talented, skilled and dedicated breeders and growers who share their knowledge with anyone with an honest interest. Of course it would be almost impossible for novices and skilled growers to meet without some place common to both that promotes kindness and knowledge, thanks AFN.

word ^ ^ ^ :)

RE: Fimming - I just squeezed the top and it ended up arresting vertical growth (which was what I needed)
then it sprouted a triple-head. It was cool. But I probably got lucky.... ;)

I have an auto, a Yoda's Dragons Breath, that I bent to 90 degrees and dropped a SCROG net on. I did top it once also.

QUOTE="paddler54, post: 801622, member: 27883"]Trapper you are as clear as crystal thanks. So the presence of a predetermined lifecycle also means a scrog grow should be a lst grow where the main stalk is bent at a near 45 degree angle to foster the release of auxins into the secondary stems.Unlike a photo scrog where the main top is pinched to achieve a candelabra shape. That being said, wouldn't it make sense to start training the main stalk when it is as pliable as possible, yet mature enough to have secondary stems, say the 3rd week after sprouting? I'm thinking I will use a wire bent in a loop and anchored in the medium.[/QUOTE]

Is there anyone else who isn't able to see the photos Mephisto posts? I'm just getting "[image]"

It's because they were posted on the old format of the forum..unfortunately.
I spent an evening copying my album photos, but haven't had a moment to think about reposting them yet.
Cheers :)

We've been clearing out a small outbuilding we refer to as the pig shed recently,
It's going to be split into 3 smaller rooms in which we can work extra projects start to finish.
I'll get some photos soon!
Cheers
