The HLG Blackwing - 4'x2' space

They are strong when turned up. I used 2 in my 4x4 tent but also a stationary 6" broken blizzard down low when the plants get tall.
That would work in my 4'x2' then. Was thinking if I got the 9" I'd have 1 where current 12" hangs. If I got 2 6" 1 would go where current is, and other would go underneath. Probably keep them both lower with 2 in a smaller tent.

Day 77: Cut! 77 days was the minimum time from T20. Looks like a nice light can help get the plant there in quickly. Could have probably cut a few days earlier but no rush needed here.

Been a few days since they were cut. I could not remember where I left my camera. Should have dry weight hopefully this weekend.

Thanks guys! I am quite impressed with the difference the light made.

I am really looking forward to the final weight so I can see the gram/watt ratio.

Unfortunately HLG has already discontinued the Blackwing. They should have a different but similar panel available. I'm going to tag the HLG rep once the weight is up and see what is the suggested replacement model.

Oops, I forgot the final update..... eh... well here 'tis

Verdict: The Blackwing is an excellent LED panel. 225W total power and final weight of 315g. Based on the final weight, and not counting trim, the Gram/Watt ratio is 1.4g/w

That is darn good. And you could see one plant clearly outdid the other so there is room to improve on that further. Unfortunately HLG has discontinued the Blackwing but I'm sure @Les @HLG can recommend the proper replacement product.

So if you were wanting to see if the HLG lights are worth the price?

Well an easy 1.4g/w should tell you enough. I continue to read that 1g/w is considered great so 1.4 clearly blows that out of the water. This article says 1g/w is the upper limit for indoor lights and that 0.5g/w is average. HLG has blown that out of the water.

The power level may seem low at only 225W but! A light boasting higher watts that doesn't convert into useable light is doing nothing for you. The HLG clearly uses that power to create light and not just heat. I did initially think the driver mounted to the panel would be too hot. However, the efficiency of the HLG boards did not create a heat issue. I suspected this would be the case but over the course of the grow it was proven.

Much respect to @Twenty20 Adam & Twenty20 Mendocino for the excellent genetics on this Triks strain.

Final weight: 315g or 11.25oz
No trim just decent size buds. I'm too old to mess about and the harvest is well enough as is.

Quick numbers:
225W HLG Blackwing
315g yeild
1.4g/watt
Twenty20 Mendocino Triks autoflower strain
3gal airpots with coco coir
Jacks 3-2-1

Mid-trim: Such excellent genetics! You could tell from the final full plant pics these would be an easy trim up. This is with just the large easy leaves removed.

Really just needs a touch up here and there:

And all cleaned up!

Thanks for reading along and checking out what the new HLG panels can do. Impressive. Let me know if you have any questions.

Nice job bud! HLG is quality I put them in the top shelf category. When you're looking at a setup if you want top shelf bud top shelf light is paramount. A good grower is too, great job keep doing what you're doing.
