If you get the chance try it out, and if you do tinker with seeding let us know how it goes.
The problem with inoculation/seeding is nobody knows what microbes to use, what presumably common environmental microbes do what and when during curing under what conditions!

Ideally, much like media/soil microbial inoculants/supplements, yeasts for beer and bread, etc. there should be commercial live microbial (and/or their purified enzyme) inoculants for curing. Perhaps, these could be used with something like Grove Bags for atmosphere control. Seems readily doable (with real R&D), such as finding suitable rapid chlorophyll-degrading microbes (or enzymes).

Also, no one has dug that deep into it, as the microbes that you need are already present on the fresh harvested cannabis.
The cash cow here is finding some reliable seed microbes and using them to ‘reinitiate’ curing, that way producers can dry large amounts for storage and then raise humidity and add the microbes to ‘cure’ the batches when it’s time, rather than having to do it on the plant’s schedule.
Not my style, I prefer to let nature do its thing, I’m just here to help it out a little.

I cobbed up a lbs or so last year. A few indicas and a bunch of Night Owl Sativas. It has been wonderful smoke but I haven’t eaten any. I have some Cosmic
Apprentice that is pretty good almost 1 year cured I might try chewing some tomorrow. .5 gram?

I’d almost start with 1/4 gram, but it depends on your tolerance. 1/2 is probably perfect for most. Chew it for 10 minutes or so before you eat it. I usually don’t even eat it, just spit it out after the chew, but for the full buzz eat it.
To me it’s somewhere between mushrooms and edibles. The body buzz, depending on the strain and the cob, is pretty intense.

what time/temp combo did you sweat it?
How long did you ferment it after that? I see that you cured it for a year after fermenting, I did the same and it’s still awesome.
Does it smell pickled at all?
What color is it?

This really peaked my interest. I have never heard of fermenting cannabis before. I gotta say though reading the OG way they did it in Africa made me a little queezy but it sound kinda awesome. Is the flavor and smell any different than what it would be under normal curing, just more intense, or does it take on a different profile all together?

Takes on its own profile for sure. Mine have a slight pickled scent, as well as some other changes vs cured. Using the modern method outlined in the mega thread mentioned previously is very safe, fermentation is not super complicated and is way easier to do than most folks think. I make a lot of fermented veggies as well, it’s not scary. Read the thread I mentioned earlier, that’s where all the info is.

Will do, was just wondering what the outcome is. Reading some other articles online made it sound like it still comes out with the same smell and taste just way way stronger so I wanted to ask someone who does it to be sure.

One other thing to consider, if you eat half a gram, and we suppose that your bud is 20% thc, that’s 500mg x .2 = 100mg thc. Some of that isn’t converted into psychoactive thc, some is undoubtedly converted to cbn, but it still packs a serious punch. Depends on how strong you like your edibles, though it is definitely a different buzz.

It is more intense I guess, but also changed in some ways.

Well fellas I woke up feeling bad and didn't try the Cosmic Apprentice maybe tomorrow.
Dude I found out about the cobbing process from one of Hecno's post. That crazy son of a gun posted
he had eaten 2 or 3 grams and got higher than he had ever been. This of course piqued my interest.
I initially read Sweet Sue's thread and then Tangwena's. I have insomnia and make coconut oil caps for sleep
and to get high. 5 or 6 caps to a gram and I do a clean ethanol extraction in the freezer.
They're pretty strong and I take 1 everyday, have for the last decade. Not sure how eating it will
affect me. I'm willing to experment.

I built an incubator and bought a food dehydrator and a vac sealer.
I hang dried each plant whole 1 day then to paper sacks for 2 more. Cobbed without the corn husk.
I sweated all of mine 24 hours at 107F. Fermented all at a range of 78f to 86f for 5 days.
Cured each cob for 6 weeks. Weekly documenting weight at opening and after drying usually 2 or 3 hrs.
Then on to ageing.

This is a pic of a couple of indica cobs at about 6 months old and the buds they were made from.
I'll try to get a pic of some 1 year + aged cob when I have good light.
Shows more salt blooms?

Definitely has a fermented scent but also a mellow tobacco like scent, plus faint weed terps.
Super smooth smoke. The taste is almost tobacco like again with faint weed terps.
My friends and family love the smoke.

In hind sight I will limit the sweat time to 4 to 8 hrs and for sure ferment less time. I want more terps.
I'll have to read up about that.
