TG420,
First rule of thumb is to NEVER go by the estimated time frame...it's just an estimate, not a hard number.
Your plant will tell you when she's ready to be taken.
First off, maturation times are not only strain specific, but phenotype specific.
And also, to a certain extent, reliant on the growing conditions as well.
The Shiz in particular has been going longer than the other SS gear.
The fan leaves will usually start to yellow as the plant eats the nutrients stored in them...
but the BEST way to ascertain maturity is trichome color....you need a microscope attachment
for your smartphone or a jeweler's loupe to identify...but the trichs will have clear heads to begin
with, then they will turn cloudy/milky then finally they will turn a nice dark yellow/orange amber.
Different folks like different percentages of cloudy to amber as the different proportions yield
different buzzes...as THC breaks down, the trich heads turn amber. More amber, less strength
but more couch lock. But not enough amber and the buzz will be racy...A good number to shoot
for is around 20% amber in most cases, unless you're looking for a sleep aid....then shoot for
more amber. Mind you, this is highly generalized.
Depending on how you're growing, you also have to build in time for the flush (12-14 days in soil with nutes)
as well.
Hope that helps
Good Luck!
