The AutoDuck Project!

10 Day F4 Green Quacks!

Howdy,

I was unimpressed with the first batch of sprouts from very fresh beans and so I cured the F4 seeds I had left and popped another six. They're rocketing along and show normal vigor and morphology. I'll put 'em in pots soon.

This project continues to an inevitable conclusion. If I get a male and female auto in this bunch their progeny should be mostly auto if not entirely auto. Reckon I can have the first version of this fully auto strain done by Christmas. Dunno about the competition's offering, but mine has terrific camo qualities and hits like a freight train! It reeks of hash and spice from early flower, and despite small pots gets to a good size and yield. I intend on breeding out some other early F2 lines when the first example is finished. Yup, I got me a lotta breeding left folks!

Cheers.

Super to see it's coming together for ya..... And setting jorself up for Xmas to boot....... In some Scandinavian lands it's customary to have duck for Xmas, wots not to like....

Hi South
A Xmas auto duck sounds great. In a few years we will see a duckfoot competition i think. There are so much different breeding projects with these genetics.

I think a afn duck competition would be a great show.

16 Days F4b Green Quacks!

Howdy,

Okay, these Quacks are finally potted up and purty! My blasted local has been waiting on coco nine days now and since I know the lads from my days in the industry I'm a loyal dumb ass -- but enough is enough! My Quacks were getting out of hand so I recycled old coco/perlite mix and got 'em in pots. Hope I don't bloody regret it and that a fluff up with fresh perlite is enough.

Some got better light than others but I reckon they'll all get there very soon. Waiting for gender expression and just admiring those lovely little webbed beauties.

Howdy people!

49 Day F4 Green Quacks!

Update time -- Yeah, life and various projects, and especially this one, got on top of me. I'm determined to have a fully auto Quack strain by Christmas. And this is a fine strain! Ticks many boxes for many tastes; I'm still amazed what I'm finding in there as I clean it up to fully auto. Just scroll back in this thread to see the caliber of buds this strain yields, and every last one have been heavy hitters! Many seasoned heads have attested to that around here. Still, among it's impressive features, the one especially not lost on me, as a grower and occasional breeder, is how big they get considering the tiny pots and the shoe-box I grow them in!

Okay, I've had my cab jammed with various things besides this project for the last four weeks so I've kept my Quacks hungry and shaded till last week. Pumped nutes and lights soon as I had the room and they've shot up! Got two boys, both autos though one is further along, and three girls of which two I suspect are auto. I've had about a 90% auto ratio in this F4 batch (I grew six from fresh seeds previously of which I've only kept one, and all but one were auto).

Both parents for this F4 round were auto so, theoretically, I should already have an auto batch, and 90% is pretty close. The thing is, the one that didn't auto hadn't autoed yet, but had I left it it could have been a late sati-dom, of which I'm getting a few despite breeding for indica dom phenos. In this F4 round I've got two autos so far and waiting on the rest. An auto of each on this round and my F5s will be fully auto -- bank on it!

These Quacks are effectively two weeks behind but now nutes are back up their color is returning and their stature increasing; another eight weeks before finished I think -- and I'm hoping for gold in that F5 batch coming up.

Cheers.

Howdy!
Wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading this project. I use to grow the duck in Hawaii a few decades ago. Nobody I knew really wanted to grow it but me and maybe 1 other guy.
I didn't really like the pine/pepper/sage flavor at all and the high was ok but I really liked the uniqueness of the high to mix things up. Where I was people were weed snobs and couldn't see the duck for what I did.
I was madly in love with the Web as we also called it. Those leaves I could stare at all day. I loved how hardy and easy she was to grow.
I did start a small project back then and crossed the duck to another local strain called Hawaiian Mango. The smoke tasted much more appealing to me, but still never reached my goal. Lost all my seeds to a historic flood that I hadn't realized crept into the storage closet. After loosing almost 3 years of work I gave up. That's the end of the story.
I've since got medical and started growing again last year. Been looking to start a new duck project. It's been discouraging lol. Want to make a duck that looks and tastes purple and a duck that is green maybe but tastes like skunk or something besides pepper normal duck and different than the purple duck I'll make. I have found the duck, auto duck, frisian duck, duck x chitral and sneaky duck.
Going to start soon with the sneaky duck and a purple strain for my purple duck project. Then next year maybe start the green duck project. I smoke for pain. That and the flavor are the most important to me so my end goal is to have 2 duck strains green/purple that both have intense flavor that lasts beyond the first toke. That's was my goal then and again now. To make a duck that the flavor is just super appealing and intense and long lasting.
As I said it's been discouraging but after finally finding some seeds and now finding your project... well I maybe see some hope lol. Amazing journal thank you so much for sharing. The dragon duck looks amazing, frikin awesome man! And to add the auto monkey wrench to it as well. Wow. Impressive. Way to go man. Thanks again.

Howdy!

Well Howdy pardner! :shooty: I see you joined up just to make this comment, no...?

Wanted to say how much I've enjoyed reading this project. Glad to hear it.
I use to grow the duck in Hawaii a few decades ago. Really? Fantastic! Apparently the duck strain only occurred in Australia and Hawaii (or so the internet says). You're Hawaii and I'm the other one.

Nobody I knew really wanted to grow it but me and maybe 1 other guy. Strange, seems everyone wants to grow it nowadays!
I didn't really like the pine/pepper/sage flavor at all and the high was ok but I really liked the uniqueness of the high to mix things up. Wow! All I got was menthol and peppermint and kush and spice in all my examples. I loved the menthol of the Momma Duck.

Where I was people were weed snobs and couldn't see the duck for what I did. Bloody cretins!

I was madly in love with the Web as we also called it. Those leaves I could stare at all day. I loved how hardy and easy she was to grow. Amen brother! :pass:

Damn dude! That's a f-cking sad story! :jawdrop::jawdrop:

Oh, of course, there are many duck varieties nowadays, though not so many when I started my project. I hope you can use them all to great effect, my man, and it's never too late to devote your best efforts to a comeback!

You go right ahead man. I'll be watching with bated breath.

As I said it's been discouraging but after finally finding some seeds and now finding your project... well I maybe see some hope lol. There's always hope. The human spirit is strong and and it's imagination large -- large enough to envision a perfectly auto connoisseur Quack strain that competes with the best of anything in the canna world.

Amazing journal thank you so much for sharing. You're certainly welcome. It's been a journey, LoL.

The dragon duck looks amazing, frikin awesome man! And to add the auto monkey wrench to it as well. Wow. Impressive. Way to go man. Thanks again. Again, you're welcome. Imagine the finished product, though!
