hey guys been thinking of popping a new seed and my options are shot adrenaline or northern lights. Apparently the SA thc content is up to 20 while the NL is up to 15. How is thc content determined? it seems to me different phenos would have differing contents. Any advise on which seed to pop would be awesome. :bong:

As far as I know thc testing is done in some sort of labrotory.Norhter Lights is an old standard that should work and sa Im mot familiar with.I would go with the sa with the higher thc,but either one will be fine.

I am not so sure it will make any difference.
Those THC measurements (if they are true) are almost certainly from plants grown under the absolute best conditions by excellent growers.
If a person is an average grower with average skills growing under average conditions, the most likely outcome is an average plant.
There are exceptions of course, but in general, high quality stock only gives a you a greater chance of higher quality plants and either one of those varieties is going to be pretty good assuming the grow goes well.
Whatever you choose, Good Luck and Happy Growing!

I think it makes some difference. One of my close friends grew an OG plant pretty basically with soil and an hps. Him and I along with two other friends tested it at the same time. The grower and I had a tolerance but it still utterly destroyed us; one of the other had an anxiety attack and the fourth laid on the ground for 3 hours asking when does it stop lol. It was some of the most potent stuff I ever encountered and the grower thought it had 20+% THC. THC% really doesn't mean much to me I was just curious how they came up with the measurement. I'm thinking the northern lights would be best; It's tough and I'm a noob.:smokebuds:

I just meant in comparing two fairly highly rated THC varieties, that an average grower using average means will not be able to produce a plant that reaches the potential of the plant.
I am guessing an average grower growing the two strains is going to get damn good product, but I doubt that they will be able to notice much difference if the strains are similar in their linage.
I have bred a number of living things over the years both plant & animal. Good Stock to start with gives you an advantage and will result in nice offspring, but to really capitalize on the potential takes time & talent, along with a little luck.
Sometimes luck will kick in big time & give a person something outstanding with little effort on their part, but I tend to think that is the exception rather than the norm.

Good post, gtron. I personally rely much more on real-world feedback from growers to determine which strains I want to grow. Knowing what someone harvested in similar conditions to mine is more meaningful than lab tested bud that was likely hand picked from among hundreds of plants to give the highest number. If I was buying cured bud from a dispensary that tested each batch, the lab results would be of interest to me. But when buying seeds those numbers really don't matter much IMO. I've grown plants that were sold as one THC value and ended up being more potent than others with a much higher advertised content, and many others have seen the same thing.

greenthumb, I've been closely involved in a northern lights grow. Its a really nice plant, we are beginners but have been here on the site throughout the whole grow getting advice and learning. its about week 6 or 7 and all the buds are starting to get fatter and the leaves are getting covered in resin. I really think the NL strain would be a good plant to try and start with. good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys :D. I'm fairly new to the cannabis horticulture scene but have a pretty good understanding of genetics. I plan on breeding after I purchase some seeds, I just had to find a dependable source first.

I highly recomend the site's store as a source. they dont rate thc contents though.
