Also can't add the discussion to older blog entries.

So this discussion acts as a hub between the forum and the blog. It's a lovely feature that probably needs to remain limited to certain categories to avoid clutter. It makes a place in the chosen category and gives you a thread in said forum. It would be great if these could be private or moderate by the content creators. But there is already a comments section in the blog.

This will probably drive a lot more traffic but they can't be added to pre existing blog entries

Should be a feature that stays on going forward? What categories or type of blog would it be best suited to do you think?

Is there no way to add it in on your end Hobbes for the older entries to have the discussion on them

It would be nice if it made a link to maybe the breeder that you're doing like how I have those fastbuds testers if that new blog entry instead of going to indoor Growers went to the fastbuds form

I think it's great for grow journals or competitions but it isn't necessary for me except to drive traffic because it's in the forum.

@Son of Hobbes so I've played with it, watched some other people and thought about it lol

I like the discussion section and if it could be made optional before or after a blog entry has been posted would be great. But I think categories for members should be fairly limited to breeding, indoor, outdoor, and photos, new growers. I want to use the discussion feature on my older entries but there is no option. The prefixes are pretty spot on imo.

People have mentioned cooking, tutorials, and some other stuff but I haven't seen enough feedback aside from struggles to set up the blogs. I did notice on mobile that full formatting is available in landscape so no complaints there.

The discussion section definitely helps drive traffic as it makes the blog accessible without the side panel but there's less than 15 people using the blog.

Not sure everyone will like it because it isn't as simple as make a thread, insert content, post but it is much cleaner and easier to navigate especially for the perpetual growers and new growers. Having a comment section and a discussion section remedies the inability to get new pages out as updates because it's all integrated into the forum. If there is a way to add a discussion to blog entries prior to the changes you made then I could traffic increasing a lot more.

Plus it gives everyone options depending on how invested they want to be in the process. The forum threadmarking is quite fine compared to before and I see a lot more people use it but it doesn't compare to the blogs that need more time to set up but can also be more comprehensive than a regular forum thread.

Sorry this so long. I've got beef with the blog galleries. They only show images that were attached to the initial blog entry but doesn't pull images from the pages associated with that blog entry.

I'm going to tag along people that have shown interest and might approach it differently than myself. Though I do still believe that getting the staff and even competitions put in the blog section would drive traffic harder and slowly start pulling in other people.

@Lilly_of_the_Zoo @Steviestash @baked in the bluegrass are about the only ones attempting this in seriousness so hopefully they can add something else to this.

I agree with most of this it would be nice if we could get the older blogs to tie in with the discussions as far as the categories I think we do need more categories though I would much rather have some of the blogs go into the breeder than just into General indoor growing that way I could tie my blogs that are associated with fastbuds nightowl or some other breeder to their form

This IS cool, but I'm wondering if someone is just cruising around the forum how does the blog section work for views? Do you have to look specifically at the blogs?
no, you dont. they show up in the category you post them in. I tried making a grow journal, in the forums, but i couldnt find it when clicking through, so I tried making a blog. When you make a blog, it stays on your blog page, but when you make an entry to your blog, you can choose an individual category for it to post in. You can post in multiple categories with one blog, but each entry can only go in one category. when you are looking through the forums, I noticed it shows up just like a forum post (your blog entry). I am MUCH more comfortable with the blogs, rather than just forum posts. It keeps all my posts in one blog for me to find, and if there are posts from that blog in another category, then it still shows up in your blog page as with that blog. It seems so far to me to be neater, and more organized, than just trying to post individually in forums and have to search around. Only thing i dont like about ti so far is the fact that you HAVE TO load a photo with each entry. I don't have photos of some of them yet, because they are either not all the way up, or no photos are good enough for me to want to use.

@Damien50 I do agree with you about the galleries. I had a hard time finding the area to switch my cover photo, and had a little time with making sure that all my photos were showing. One thing that confused me was the photos I put in the blog when I created it did not show up in the gallery, just the ones I put in a blog entry. Why did the original photos I placed in the blog not show? I might have done something wrong though, so I'll wait to see what happens.
@Steviestash I think they need more categories, too. not everyone grows perpetually, and maybe theres someone that wants to make a blog about smoke accessories, or something. And yes, I would like to be able to post my grows in breeder categories, too. I think they get more traffic that way dont they?

We’ve sorta chatted about the blogs, here’s a few thoughts on em....
I’d like to be able to tie my blog into a specific vendors subforum, right now I’m only able to pick between the new growers, indoors, outdoors, etc.
for peeps who want to run testers for vendors that would be convenient.
I’d luv to be able to pull pages and journals into series, otherwise we are all only pulling from this tiny pool of blog entries. By opening that up to things like pages and journals the series becomes inherently more valuable and useable.
I’m sure there’s a billion other aspects I’m overlooking but those are the first few that come to mind.
I like the blog system, tho I do think it’s a bit clunky getting into it and it’s not as easy as it should be to read and follow updated entries, pages and such.
I like having the creator options tho and the organization tools
