I've been thinking about replacing the light w/ 2 COBs for the heat reduction … any input would be appreciated

Are you talking about the Autocob lights from www.cobshop.net? If so, I have 6 and they are outstanding lights. That would be a smart purchase.

Way to "Pull the Trigger". I think you will be very happy with the Autocobs. I generally start my Autocobs at 30-35 inches.

The two AUTOCOBs have been hanging about 24 hrs . All zipped up w/ the fan on low the tent (2x4x6) is w/in 2* of the house temperature. My office went from feeling like a sweat box on the end of a busy runway … to a little chilly and almost silent. The pictures and the testimonials say these work … they do an excellent job of reducing the temperature … Thanks again for the input … Let the Fun Begin !

I ,too, went to cobs to solve a heat problem...def much easier to control environment now. I also set up thermo controlled 4" centrifugal fans for intake and exhaust, making my grow tent pretty much automatic....I intake from a crawlspace of outside air and exhaust to a flue.
Now I've added a qb to the cobs, making my watts 280 for 6 sq ft...and getting bout 2 oz out of each plant in 3 ltr pots.
Heat can and will ruin a grow. I recently had a timer malfunction which caused my plants to live in 90-92 f for a couple of hours, and 3 plants went hermi.

I have a 2x4x7 Lite Line, an S6 AC-Infinity Extraction Fan, a DS 400 Advanced LED light. My home is AC'd down to 76* in the winter. My problem is heat. W/ extraction fan running 50% and all lower flaps open I'm still hitting temps of 95* … I vent into the 10x10 room that the tent is in w/ the door open to the rest of the house. This is my first grow in a tent. I usually use a half open closet w/ temps in the mid 80's. How can I get the heat down in my tent ?

[Before I just read that COBs looked to have solved your problem, simply avoid a lot of heat]: Your problem is that you are 'exhausting' (not really) your hot air into the same space/room the tent is in. You need to either suck cooler air into the tent, which could require a room or portable air conditioner or run ducting into the tent directly from the closest air conditioner output. And/or exhaust your hot air outside of the house, which might help pull cooler house air into the tent.

Otherwise, how quiet or noisy is that model fan?

Two weeks later … Fan running on low w/ tent closed up and two COBs the temp runs about 2 degrees hotter than the thermostat in the other end of the house. Temps now steady between 78* and 80* …

Harvest day … The COBs were the answer to the excessive heat … used 1/3 the wattage and did a nice job of flowering these two plants. The one w/ the arrow will be coming down today while the taller more sativa dominant bush has about 2 weeks left til harvest …
