Tent Questions

Hi all...I didn't see anything specific on tent set ups and so forth...

So I'm going to sticky this thread for any questions and answers that you members with tents, can answer...

Also, if you have any pics of how your tent is set up, please post them...Pictures say a 1000 words...
Basically, as far as pics go, mostly looking for how yours is set up...Not so much about the plants...

Thanks for your cooperation and I hope this thread gets the attention that new tent buyers, like myself, can gain some info...:peace:

Struggling with putting together my new gear.. 4hours till people arrive here

Blue, this 6" Fan is beast! lol

Got my Kit today of 325CFM Inline Fan, 2x 10m 6" Ducting and 6" Carbon Filter

Problem is the Ducting won't fit over the joints. Do I make them fit or switch to some Tape to seal together?

Ah, the eternal struggle of the 6" ducting :stylez rasta smoke: I know that which you speak. I like to take one side of the duct and pull it down over the 6" opening. I find it to be very helpful to take a little duct tape and tape that side down. Then, make sure the end of the ducting is full extended (so it's not crinkled or scrunched at all where it slips over the opening,) and try to take your finger nails onto the wire that's wrapped into the foil, and pull the ducting down over the opening. It's incredibly snug, but I promise you they will make it over the opening. I've ordered several types of 6" flex duct and some are MUCH more flexible than others. If all else fails, you can make a duct tape seal around them but it's far better to actually have the flex duct around the opening (I like using hose clamps, duct tape can heat up and lose it's stickiness.) You can also try taking a wire cutter and clipping part of the wire that's wrapped into the foil; I've found sometimes that gives you enough wiggle to get the ducting on and then get it secured (without much compromise to the ducting.) Hope that helps bro! :tiphat:

Cheers for the QUICK response Vaporhaiser!. Just got Ducting over filters end stretching it out, so I managed to use its Hose Clamp:thumbs:. will Update as I go or get finished.

Thanks again mate MAX:slap:

I can see this barely fitting my plants along side the Fan and Carbon let along both 10m hoses. I think I can get away with 5m and 5m. would you suggest cutting if I am able to?

Oh yeah man you can cut those 10m lengths down to whatever size you want; just clip the wire that's wrapped through the foil, then pierce the foil next to where you clipped and either cut around with your knife or just use your finger to tear around it. You can also piece ductwork back together by stick one end inside the other (again; tight fit so start with one side and work the other and in; sometimes it works good to grab the end and squeeze on it (so instead of a circular shape, it's an oval,) then work the spiraling wire in that way. This is where you can use the duct tape to seal the two pieces together.

You want the least amount of duct possible with the least amount of turns in the duct possible. Every 90 degree turn causes some major air turbulence, reducing effective CFM and raising the decibel level.

If it's still cramped in there; you might be able to run the fan outside the tent with the scrubber inside, connected with duct, but see how it looks when you trim back some of that duct work. Also, I like to use bungee cords inside my tent to control where the duct goes (so instead of bowing out and smacking plants or getting up in the light's business, I can keep it all strapped to the corners and walls.) If you had more vertical space; I'd say try to mount the scrubber to the top of tent; but I have a feeling that's probably going to be a little cramped with your setup. Let us know and we'll figure this out bro :smokebuds:

Yeah dude I'd love the vertical hight to just throw them both up there above lights but we got what we got.. even having the Carbon Filter and Ducting up there and the Inline Fan and Ducting on floor inside I lose about half my Tent:Stones slap: 4" probably could of done it but this 6" sounds like itll do the job very well.
Cut the wire framing so have a spare 10m hose at the ready. Not sure I am done cutting this first 10m though haha
There are "a few 90 Degree angles and a couple 180s.. I will try to amend that tomorrow. Shiiit is roaring I hope I can sleep with it, I'd better go vape hard and test:smokebuds:Thanks a bunch again man

Here's a Pic of Yours and My hard work today Vaporhaizer! What shall tomorrow bring

Tent question! I've got a 32x32x60 space to work with. I'll be using a m0004 from grow northern for lighting. My question is, where I'm at it's getting to be around 55 at night, and 75 in the day. It's only going to be getting colder as well. I was thinking of installing a tubular heater, however I'm not very familiar with them. Or if anyone has any simpler solutions that are cost effective that'd be great. I was also thinking possibly adding some cfls for more light/heat, but i'm not sure if they'd do the job.

Hello GP. IMO, adding a few cfls should do the trick. That'll add more light, heat and be rather cost effective too! :D

How cold is cold bro? In the past two days; I had a 15 degree Fahrenheit drop in temperature inside my grow tent under a 400W HPS due to outside temperature change. If I don't supplement heat to my basement soon; I'll have 30-40 deg F temps down there easily (or colder, the guy that build this house must have been a raging drunk, ZERO insulation on any of the pipes, walls, open wiring, etc. Scary lol. Adding CFL's will generate heat, but if your tent sits in a non-insulated place or a place that maintains a cool temp; you might want to investigate some other options.

And The Squid, man I haven't seen you forever

I'm going to be ventilating inside my cab using a 4" intake and carbon filter. My temps are weird right now. This past week it hasn't really went below 60 even in the am hours. It is going to get way colder as here in NC we get snow occasionally. I'm not really worried about the inside getting too cool, I keep the house at a moderate 70 or so. I've read a lot about how the plants will need lots of fresh co2 from the air, which I plan to do through ventilation. I'm just hoping the stagnant air throughout the house (or the room, rather) does a good job of supplying them to be healthy plants. I'm probably over thinking, but I'll just do a few test runs over night and try to check in on the temps every hour or so during lights off/on. If its too cold i'll just go with the CFL idea. I suppose it would not only give me extra side light but also some heating.
