Tent Questions

Hi all...I didn't see anything specific on tent set ups and so forth...

So I'm going to sticky this thread for any questions and answers that you members with tents, can answer...

Also, if you have any pics of how your tent is set up, please post them...Pictures say a 1000 words...
Basically, as far as pics go, mostly looking for how yours is set up...Not so much about the plants...

Thanks for your cooperation and I hope this thread gets the attention that new tent buyers, like myself, can gain some info...:peace:

I'm going to be ventilating inside my cab using a 4" intake and carbon filter. My temps are weird right now. This past week it hasn't really went below 60 even in the am hours. It is going to get way colder as here in NC we get snow occasionally. I'm not really worried about the inside getting too cool, I keep the house at a moderate 70 or so. I've read a lot about how the plants will need lots of fresh co2 from the air, which I plan to do through ventilation. I'm just hoping the stagnant air throughout the house (or the room, rather) does a good job of supplying them to be healthy plants. I'm probably over thinking, but I'll just do a few test runs over night and try to check in on the temps every hour or so during lights off/on. If its too cold i'll just go with the CFL idea. I suppose it would not only give me extra side light but also some heating.

I'm already down in the 20s at night time where I am and about 55 during the day. With autos I run my lights 20/4 and have a direct fresh air intake. I moderate the temperature with a fan speed controller, the colder the outside temp gets the slower I turn the speedster dial. CAP automated products makes a fan speed/temp controller also if your not around to adjust your temp all the time. The only thing that I did not like about that product was when it was barely key ping the fan moving because it was to cold, it made the fan pulse instead of a constant speed. That pulsing noise was just loud enough to be very annoying. But you can control 2fans with one speedster. I control my intake and exhaust with one speedster and that keeps my tent walls from bowing in.

That's reassuring medicineman. Do you have an links for some good speed controllers? How much do they run?

I have the small tent from lighthouse hydro 30x28x36 I think sum like that and was wondering what fan flter combo preferably to be inside said tent..

Nizmo, any good 4 inch combo would work great. I use Phat or Phresh filters and a Hydrofarm fan with a speed controller. Good prices on all and hasn't let me down yet, man.

Alright, I didn't get much response in my thread so I'm coming here for some help solving my condensation problem. I got a 5x9 gorilla grow tent with a 6" inline "direct cold air" intake. What I mean by direct is that it is drawing air from outside threw my hepa filter and blowing directly into the tent from the rear left roof corner. The hepa filter to the 6" fan is about 6ft apart. I had high quality ducting, but because the night temps are already in the 20's, the entire intake ducting was dripping condensation like crazy. I had a puddle on the top of my tent.
I fixed the ducting issue (kinda). I purchased insulated 6" duct and replaced the gulag ducting with it. Although it seems to stop it, I've heard that the insulation can/could just absorb the condensation and eventually cause a mold problem. Since I have 25ft of the insulated I can replace it if I need to. I will keep a close eye on it.
Now, for the current problem and one I need help figuring out...

The 6" inline fan that I refer to above (blowing cold, 20degF air into my tent from the roof) still has large amounts of condensation on it until about 1pm before it dries up. It's so bad that I noticed the plant sitting below the intake had been dripped all over. Not only am I concerned about pm and mold issues, but I also don't want an electrical issue with my fan.
What can I do to stop the condensation on my fan? Is it possible to do anything?

The only solution I've thought of is to insulate the fan itself. And by that I mean spray the entire exterior of the fan with foam in a can. You know, the insulation foam that expands a ton when it dries? I'm thinking of just putting on gloves and doing a nice job on the exterior of the fan. I think that might be enough insulation to prevent to metal fan from condensation due to the think layer of insulation on it.

Let me know if you think my idea will work or if you have another one of your own to pitch my way.
I'd really appreciate some help on this AFN.

Thanks

215, what is the room temp your ducting runs through? And what is the RH both inside and out?
:Stones slap: Yeah, got it, average room temp @ 70.
Inside vs outside RH, added to a 50 degree temp dif, and the temp of the fan... do you have any pics of your setup?
Would it be possible to install a drip pan under the fan, with a drain tube?

The temp of the room the ducting comes into is around 70degF and the RH is probably around 45%. The RH outside is fairly dry, avg of 30%, with night temps in the 20s-30s. Inside the room the temp doesn't really fluctuate

oh ok man thanks for the info. One more question inside the tent setup works right..

I have a 6x6x6 grow tent i run a 600 watt cool tube HPS dual spectrum have a 6inch fan 240 cfm that i put on the tube, never bothered to put any ducting in and i never had any heat problems. I live in Lousiana . Problem i have with mine is the cheap connectors that they sent you with the 3 hole for the poles to slide into. 2 of them were broke right out the box, it being my first grow i was super stoked and slapped some duct tape on there. This time around I'd like to have everything squared away. Is there a place to buy replacement parts for tents? Lowes or home depot? Or if anyone knows a place online that would be great.
