Photoperiod SWICK bed grow: Pink Kush, Tangerine Dream, Amnesia Lemon and Alpha Dog!

blahblahblahblah...
Still talking away to myself in the thread and grow room! At least no one argues with what i say or do!
Guess it does have some perks...

At around day 40 from flip and things are starting to shape up now!
A few of the dodgy seedbank have thrown a few cal/mag issues on a leaf here and there. All the other plants are perfect so not sure what their problem is.

The one Barney's Farm Amnesia Lemon has thrown some odd leaf coloration's on the odd leaf, quite pretty!

The worms in the bin were fed again as they were hungry! Need to pick up a bag of organic compost to give them something to do.

The worms in the pots were also fed and I found this at lights on tonight. Makes me happy to see the worms thriving in the pots! Also visible is the small grass shoots that are in all the pots. Also had a cool mushroom in one for a few days.

Canopy shots are difficult due to the baffle the seals the door to prevent light from entering the grow room. The room is wall to wall full and nowhere to stand for a good shot.

And a few bud progress shots!

I need to bring another light into the room to take better pics. The QB's are just too bright for the camera to compensate. Time to do some reading...

Around day 46 from flip now.
Some have hairs starting to turn orange while other are still pure white.
Everyone is packing on weight now and so far everything has been going very smoothly!

Since the room is so packed, I have noticed that my QB does not cover the entire area evenly and some plants are suffering from receiving only diffused light.
Tonight I resolved the issue by adding 3 50Watt Cree cobs to the one side.
I am not rocking over 600Watts of light from the wall!! The QB is running at 486 and the COBs add another 200 , they are maxed out and I will check the plants for signs of stress and adjust the power as required.
20200718-204044.jpg

The COBs are on a bar and slide onto it and can be adjusted for angle which is quite nice.
Not the greatest quality but something I needed to finish off flowering this crop and we will see how it does!

Last week I also added some Timothy hay to my worm bin to see if they would like it. I sprayed it down with some water to soften it and start the breakdown process. Opened the tub today and the worms were all over it! They must like it.
Also fed them today a blend of fine ground fresh weed leaves and carrots. They love this mix!

The SWICK was filled again tonight with RO water, I do not PH this water.
The ladies were also fed a bit tonight with EM-1, Nirvana and Microbial Mass. Mainly for the soil this time as I noticed a few burnt tips and there is still food left from the Gaia Green and Bat Guano dry amendments, they need to be done next weekend again for possibly the last time.

The state of the legs is pretty good! Did a good cleanup of those tiny buds and also trimmed away some leaves to open up more bud sites, last trim and now they just get to settle in and do their thing!
20200718-203555.jpg

The shorty front left is the stunted Tangerine dream, she is staying on the SWICK to recharge and then she will be back on her bucket so she is even with the canopy. She has her own COB pointing at her for now.
She is also my first polyploid lady! One giant bud!

20200718-203636.jpg

The Obi Wan Canopy is still pretty much all over the place...The Barney's Farm Pink Kush did not have a big growth spurt at all!! Maybe a foot which was really odd as everyone else shot up!
They are back right in the hole but get good light and are nice and frosty!

And to end the show for this week, a few budshots!

That's all for now folks! And ghosts! LOL!
Pretty excited about the new light addition. Need to do a bit of reading up about it but first need to find it!

New COB array.
I did a bit of research on the new COB light I picked up on impulse from my hydro guy.
Due to the size of this grow, my QB was not quite enough and the left hand side area was quite a bit dimmer. Not good!!

Each COB is rated at 50Watts, so I have added an extra 150Watts to the room.
It is not ideal at the moment and I think I want to redo the lighting with more distance between the QB's and possibly and COB between each board. We will see...

So they are called Ceres DIY COB LED Grow Light Bar and are mnade by MX-LED growlight company.
Not a clue who they are but they claim to have been doing this for 15 years.
The specs for the light are:

Technical specifications:
Power: 50W per COB
HID equivalent: 100W
LED Qty: 1PCS 50W COB
PPFD: 307μmol/m²/s @ 0.45m (17.72 inch)
Lumen: >6000LM(@3500K)
N.W: 2.8kg
Cold forging radiator, efficient heat dissipation.
Dimmension: Track length:1m Lamp size:Φ135*180mm
Coverage: 0.4m² @ 0.45m (17.72 inch)
Voltage: AC85-265V
Work Frequency: 50/60Hz
CCT: 2700K/3000K/3500K/4000K/5700K/6500K
LED Type: CXA2540
Accessories: power cable, hanger
Recommended For: Full-cycle growing from seedling to flower

It's been on for almost a week now and the plants under them seem to be packing on more weight now, could just be the phase as evryone is bulking up! The smaller runt TD is enjoying her own litle spotlight for the runt that could!
I call her "Billy, The Punk Rocker"!

Looking great in here. I love the swick bed and the mostly organic grow. And you can't go wrong with cree cobs, I'm up to 1000w of them in my 4x8 now.

If your having trouble with evenly distributing your lights, grab a cheapo lux meter. Works well for seeing how the light is distributed.

Looking forward to seeing how the little runt turns out.

Around 9 weeks from flip and things are still going well!
After some research and forum searches and looking at my buds, I have decided to not used the Advanced Nutrients Nirvana anymore.
This is due to the fact it has made most of my beautiful compact buds fox tail like crazy...
Went back to my organic kelp instead but will buy some fishy organic stuff for the next grow.
I also bought a small bottle of Humboldts Golden Tree, stuff smells awful and is pitch black, not sure what it did if anything except make the grow room smell like poop!

The new light is filling in the right side nicely and the plants look much happier now.

I have also had to start bondage on the ladies as a few branches fell over from the wieght of the cola's!
Sorted that issue out last night during their weekly watering and SWICK fill up!
I mix up a bucket of nutrients, pH it and the smaller fabric pots receive around 1,5 Liters of mix while the large ladies receive 3 Liters of the mix.
They then get to suck up their own water supply from the SWICK, it is working amazingly well!

After this grow I will be shutting down for a while to do some much needed maintenance and updates on my grow room.
I need to add more airflow around my plants at all levels and I will use the cooler basement air and an inline fan that distributes the air through pipes inside at varying levels. I have seen this done somewhere and have a rough idea in my head, so we are good to go!
The lights will also be reconfigured for a more even coverage with the COB's between the QB's.

But for now, we watch, wait and water...

I know foxtailing isn't the most desired thing, but boy does it make some pretty looking flowers.

I know foxtailing isn't the most desired thing, but boy does it make some pretty looking flowers.

I will post a few more on the weekend as it is more pronounced now, especially on some plants.
They are very pretty for sure!

The finish line is in sight!! 2 more weeks or so to go!
One of the Amnesia Lemons decided to hermie for some reason....Picking off nanners!

11 Weeks since flip and another week or two to go!
The buds are all rock hard and super swollen and just covered in crystals!
The smell outside is quite intense as they killed my small carbon filter in no time at all. LOL!!
One of the ladies started to show some cal/mag deficiencies so that was added tonight again to the watering routine.

Some of them are still foxtailing, better now than before...Quite pretty these straight spires of bud!

20200815-200757.jpg

Some nice fall colors are starting to come through now as well! Very pretty plants this time around, especially the strange black one. Not quite sure what is going on with her.

Billy the Punk Rocker chick is still doing her thing! Strange creature for sure.

20200815-200857.jpg

Reeferman Pink Kush, this is my absolute favorite plant to give a small squeeze on the buds and smell my fingers!
It's addictive!! And to think I was going to trash her because she is the runt...
20200815-200928.jpg

And the bad news for last...
Even though I have a massive oscillating fan in the grow room it is still not enough air movement.
I found this out the hard way unfortunately.
A few nights ago i was checking the girls and noticed the biggest Tangerine Dream in the back corners top cola looked a bit off... It looked a bit fuzzy.
I lost the three biggest top colas in one foul swoop.
Added another fan at canopy level immediately! They all seem good now!
By removing those colas I have exposed the lower sections to more light and those buds are filling out nicely now!
So not a great loss but still not happy about it...

Playing the waiting game now...

Been a bit scarce for a bit due to work taking all of my time...
Saturday was harvest day!! Over 10 weeks of flowering has put these girls into some serious cloudy trichome territory!
The one Amnesia Lemon was fairly amber as well, so a good knockout for night.

I also pressed some early harvest bud into rosin and it is gooooood!

This will be the end of this continuous journey as the grow room is being shut down, the house prepared and we are moving once again... This time to the beautiful mountains of British Columbia!
I am sure I will continue this thread in a few years time again...
Sucks but life will be better out there for us.

The last pics of the room at full flower, just before harvest.

All hung up on 2 walls in the basement.

One of the Amnesia Lemons went into the HerbsNow dryer. I modified mine by taping off a lot of holes on the bottom as it blew a gale out of it. So far so good! Slow drying and very sticky and smelly!

20200905-174450.jpg

The last 4 plants were just cut and hung to dry and today I trimmed all the fans off and all the bigger leaves.
Hung up again to continue drying for a few more days and then jar time!

Will update with dried and cured pics and report on quality!
