I didnt see an actual journal on this process, so I decided to document my current reversal in case it can come in handy for someone later..

So far I've created my sts spray and have sprayed the plant twice in two days.

I got the ingredients off of eBay for less than $20 total.

This is the formula I use...

1.7g Silver Nitrate into 100ml of ro water
This is Mixture A.

9.9g of Sodium Thiosulfate (pentahydrate). (Use 6.3g if it is anhydrous) into 400ml of ro water. This is Mixture B

I then pour 5ml of mixture A into its own separate plastic measuring cup. Then pour 20 ml of mixture b into its own plastic measuring cup. I Use the ones that normally come with cough medicine. ..

From here, I slowly pour the 5ml of mixture A, into mixture B. While contantly stiring mixture b. I use a toothpick.

We now have 25 ml of STS. I use a 1:3 ratio.. So I add the 25 ml of sts to 75 ml of ro water ( 1:3). You now have working STS. You can use 1:1, 1:2 or whatever ratio you feel is best. Just watch for leaft burn.. I use 1:3.

You can store the remaining mixtures of A and B separately in the fridge for a long time. Then just mix another 25ml when you need a new batch for spraying.. Once mixed together, I keep it refrigerated for 2 weeks or so, then make a new batch. Im sure it can last longer, but I want to get the best results.. And its cheap to make, so why not.

Im using a Chemdogging x Tyrone Stomper female for this journal. She is on day 34 and in a one gal pot. I'll be collecting the feminized pollen for future use. Shes shown sex and is just starting to put out pistils.

First, I remove her from the tent and spray the nodes and pistils with STS until run off. Her first spray was last night. Second was today. I will spray her once a day for 7 days.. Then again one final time after about 2 weeks. There are many ways to apply it. Its personal preference. But at mininum, once at the beginning and once again about 3 weeks later. The effects of STS blocking the signals to the plant only last for about 3 weeks. This is why some people get pollen sacs, with no pollen.. Because they only sprayed once at the beginning, or stopped spraying once they saw the pollen sacs. At least 2 applications are needed in a 3 week span for best results. Then I let the plant dry before I put it back in the tent.

Welp.. Thats my process. Hope this helps someone out some day. I will be adding pics regularly up until the point that I haverest some pollen.

Here she is today...

A good way to know if the STS is working is to watch for the pistils to start turning brown and dying off.. They already have a brown tint to them after 24 hrs. Lets see what happens!

It's been 4 days.. She's been sprayed 4 times. The pistil production has slowed, and the ones that are present are turning brown and dying off as you can see in the pic. The leaves are still green and healthy looking so the 1:3 doesnt seem to be burning her. I'll spray her for 3 more nights to make 7 days of consecutive spraying. Then I'll stop for 2 weeks and let her recover, then see where we are at from there.

are you spraying sts every day?

no need for that, it stays active around 2 weeks. you can get balls with just 2 applications 1-2 weeks apart.
I sprayed every day for a week. Then I stop for 2 weeks until I see pollen sacs. Then I spray one more time. Ive seen too many people who sprayed until they saw sacs, then stop spraying, and end up with sacs, but no pollen. It's just and extra insurance policy I like to use.

Its been almost 2 weeks since the 1st spray. I havent sprayed in about 4-5 days. I'm seeing the start of pollen sacs on almost all of the bud sites that have been sprayed. The plant is actually growing really well for being in a one gal pot!

so do you get a lot of pollen that way? I'm asking because it's almost opposite from my experiences with sts this year.

I also got the balls without pollen, but I found the solution was to stop applying as soon as I saw balls, not continue, which I did the first time. whenever I kept applying, I would get empty balls(or at least, visually empty balls), and only about 2 weeks after the last sts-aplication, when the sts was wearing off and new female flowers would form at the tops, would I get previously formed balls that opening on their own that contained/released visible pollen(not as much as a normal male, but enough to produce a cloud if I moved/shook/blew on the plant). while if I kept treating the plant the balls wouldn't even open on their own, and eventually fall off unopened(and if I pried them open myself there would be no visible pollen, but I did get some seeds when I dried and crushed a bunch of those flowers, so there probably was a little pollen, just not enough to see or feel).

I thought it made some sense seeing that ethylene is often involved in ripening, and also in pollen formation/ripening in some plants, so my theory is that while you want it blocked to let the female plant form balls instead of hairs, after that first differentiation the balls need ethylene to properly ripen. but that's just my theory based on my experiences.

Ahhh.. I see. I think we are saying the same thing, in different ways. Lol. I spray every day for the 1st 7 days, to see how well the plant reacts to the strength of the sts and to make sure it takes. After one week of spraying, I stop for two weeks to see if sacs form. If they do form, like in this situation, I spray one more time only. So yesterday was the last time I will spray it. Like you stated, spray tbe plant to get started, then once again a couple of weeks later. I think as long as you get that second spray in a couple weeks after the first one, things should work fine. The people I know who ended up with sacs with no pollen, only sprayed once at the begining. I don't keep spraying after the sacs form. So I THINK we agree. Lol
