Hi guys I mixed a half batch of sts using the 1000ml instructions using .5 silver nitrate and 2.5 sodium thiosulfate (so I did 500ml with .25 SN and 1.25 ST) I mixed in mason jars but have been storing it in the fridge (is it still ok cause of being in clear container? It's been in dark fridge) i used a 1part sts mix to 9parts water... I sprayed a couple of days in a row and have waited and nothing... Anyone know what is up with the other sts recipe, the one that uses 1.76g of SN? I've read else where to use a 1:1 solution... Any help would be appreciated

It will work.

What strength or "recipe" do I use? The one with .5g of silver nitrate or the one with 1.76g? I understand now its a one spray application and maybe again 10days later if needed...
Just a bit confused with working solution 1:9 or 1:1? I figured if I've already done something to the plant couldn't hurt to try again... This time I did the 1:1

First, a stock solution is made. It consists of two parts (A and B) that are initially mixed separately, then blended together. Part A is ALWAYS mixed into part B while stirring rapidly. Use distilled water; tap water may cause precipitates to form.

Wear gloves while mixing and using these chemicals, and mix and use in a properly ventilated area. A mask will prevent the breathing of any dust, which is caustic. STS is colorless and odorless, and poses minimal health risks if used as described here. (See material safety data sheet links below). Note that silver nitrate and STS can cause brown stains upon drying, so spray over newspaper and avoid spilling.

Part A: .5 gram silver nitrate stirred into 500ml distilled water
Part B: 2.5 grams sodium thiosulfate (anhydrous) stirred into 500ml distilled water

The silver nitrate dissolves within 15 seconds. The sodium thiosulfate takes 30-45 seconds to dissolve.

The silver nitrate solution (A) is then mixed into the sodium thiosulfate solution (B) while stirring rapidly. The resulting blend is stock silver thiosulfate solution (STS).

This stock solution is then diluted at a ratio of 1:9 to make a working solution. For example, 100ml of stock STS is added to 900ml of distilled water. This is then sprayed on select female plants.

:pop: hope you dont mind me grabbing a chair.

just taking some notes. :smoke:

1:1 ratio is my daisy.
Shits so good it will reverse a single branch, every time.

1:6 as R Clarke recomends faild for me once.

Matt riot told me strong Sts wouldn't hurt them an he was right.
I spray em twice a day tell the balls are big (4weeks), then once a day.
No noticeable damage to the plant.

Since yours is 1:9 I'd recomend you spray her twice a day..

I keep reading different things in regards to application of sts... Was told it was a one time two time at most treatment. Than read ever 3rd or 4th day till balls than I hear here two times a day? Confused ?!?!

Also what is the deal with that 1.76g of silver nitrate recipe is?

You really spray a 1:1 solution twice a day and have no adverse effects on the plants at all?

Okay the 1.76 gm recipe is the classic but in my reckoning I dry the silver nitrate then it would be 1.69. Any way 1.7 gms is 1 100th of a mole of silver nitrate. Your going to mix that with 100 cc of water to make a one tenth mole solution 0.1n . Then you use 20 ccs of that stuff to 80 cc of your sodium thiosulphate solution---the reaction runs perfect at this concentration and you end up with 100 cc--that 100 cc you dilute with 400 cc of water. Now you have your 0.02n soln and just the right amount for 1 plant. The procedure is specific--1 time a day spray leaves and stems to run off for the first 10 days of 12/12 that's it--stop--don't change a thing

Male flowers still take 13 to 17 days to show ( from the start of 12/12 and treatments) and that's with a mag glass. What the specifics may alter for autos I don't know yet. What I've outlined as far as the mix well 1930s has been how long it's been around.
