Hi everyone,

I am a micro grower but recently I am planning on taking this time of shutdown to grow a little more plants to have more variety of strains. Where I live, being caught with plants is not a huge deal as long as I dont have many, but paradoxically if they find a "large" amount which can be as little as 30 gs they may accuse you of intention of selling and that can cause big trouble. My paranoia is now kicking in since I dont smoke that much and the weed may accumulate so I would like to ask: how would you store your cannabis in a way that is dog proof? I was thinking maybe cure it for 1 or 2 months with boveda packs and then store it maybe in vaccum bags opening them 15 gs at time as I go through the weed. Is this a good strategy? Or do mason jars perfectly conceal the smell from a smell dog?

Thanks for the insights,

Best,

Odissey

easier said than done mate but try an let the paranoia go.
ive not grown in 15 years, at my olace back then there was a petrol station across the road.
they got robbed an the poli were everywhere with dogs, right outside the growroom window.
they never even twitched an the house stank lol ( i do consume copious ammounts of weed on a daily though so thats nothing new)
when i got this stuff in nearly 2 months ago, my bum was twitching during setup an everytime id go into the bloody room.
just keep telling yourself,,,,, nobody knows, nobdy knows, nobody knows.
i tend to keep anything in glass jars or decent smell proof bags, failing that i know a guy that keeps his in 10l paint pails, obviously empty an well cleaned.
the click down lid seems to do the job.

Wow that took quite some balls! I keep telling myself that, but whenever I start hearing a lot of neighbors chatting outside or when I hear sirens I always get uneasy that somehow they were able to smell and I am screwed. This is because I have been caught once before because I was stupid and had a grow with no filter pretty much right next to the main entrnace of the house, but that was in another house and city. Anyway, just knowing that even if police raided the house with dogs they would not be able to find the stash would give me enormous peace of mind. Just need to know what works as most people say a dog can smell through anything basically. I am pretty sure that is an exageration but still....

I've seen smell-proof baggies advertised on Amazon and elsewhere.
I'd otherwise go for multiple layers, bags, within bags, within jars, etc.,
and maybe a fridge or freezer will keep the terpenes (the smells) down, too.

Do you have experience with those? I was thinking of maybe buying these vaccum bags for food. Keeping the stash in the fridge does not seem like an option for me, especially with the occasional visitor.

that was my final grow in that property lol
i must admit ive always used filters though, prob to the point of overkill
currently using 2x 6" ones just to be sure and im in the absolute middle of nowhere now.
ive moved 5 times since then ;)
my house an myself always reek of weed still though
gave up trying to hide that in the end lol
couldnt afford to keep the supply of deodorant going :)
wife always has burners an oils everywhere,,, but if you know,,,you know lol

i can add that a certain paint company with a big woolie dog have 10l plasic pales with said click lids.
ive been in a room where you smelt absolute nothing until he opened the bucket.
they work wonders mate, so smaller smell proof bags all in a paint tin at the bottom of a pile of paint tins?

Yeah I also have a filter but since I am doing micro I only have a pc fan extracting so I cannot add the strongest of filters otherwise Ill lose a lot of air exchange. Right now it does not seem bad to me except when I am close to the grow box, but I am afraid I might have gotten used to the smell.
I actually have an empty paint bucket. Maybe using a vaccum bag and putting that inside a jar inside the bucket is a good idea!

No experience with them, sorry.
