i never use the paper towel method myself either. i use the rapid rooters, or root riot plugs for seed germination and my cuttings/clones too. i just soak the plugs in ph'd water, pop in the seeds and stick em in the tray, fill to bottom of the plugs with plain water, cover with lid, and put in dark warm closet. 2-3 days later...sprouts! really nice and easy to plant em into your final medium too! happy harvesting.

doh! I should of used this method since I use this same exact method when starting veggie seeds for outside; here I'm thinking mj is some scientific plant requiring a rocket science degree LOL!!

I prepare the pots with soil I am gonna use for the seedlings when they come out of there shells about 1 week in advance. I fill the pot/pots with the organic soil mix I am using then water till nice and soaked, then into the cabinet to dry out.

Three days later I plant my seeds directly into small seedling pots in a 1-2cm deep hole. I use cactus soil for the seeds/seedlings, water gently with the spray bottle, you just want the soil to be moist. I also put some water on the bottom of the seedling tray just enough to cause condensation on the inside of the seedling cloche, this will keep it nice and warm and humid, perfect for raising seeds.

The seedling cloche is also placed in the cabinet and about 2-3 days later two cotyledons pop up. Roots will be just reaching the bottom of the small seedling pots at this stage.

Remove from cloche and re-pot in the large pre warmed / watered pots. I already have dug out the middle of the large pot and inserted a bottomless long pot which I fill with cactus soil, when the seedling gets a bit larger I will simply lift out the bottomless pot exposing the roots to the hotter organic mix.
The seedlings in the photo are northern lights, at 6 days old since head popped up and also in the large pot DPs new Think Different at 3 days.
Seedlings get 1 week under one 27 watt cfl before being moved to 250 watt hps.
Make plant strong like ox!
