You guys start hitting frost in late august/early sept up there? That's where we have you...no frost setting in until late sept/early oct. I have found large tough photo plants take frost and even the occasional snow like warriors.

One of the main killers is the rainy season starts about the same time the hours of light drop soooooo fast. August can be rain rain rain. That's why I put them out asap. Its more the rain then the cold that gets them. I made some seeds once in the winter and the shed got down to 32° there was a water bottle on the floor that froze!!!! I got little tiny plants with a few seeds. But they still lived. I couldn't believe it....

Ahh heavy rain! Yeah generally we have dry autumn for the most part, though getting into mid sept it can get wet much of the time. August is general the driest time of the summer.

A quick shot for this morning.... The kids are starting to put on some leaves. They will be showing sex in a week or so. I will put them in my green house in a few. Not exactly sure when. I put a thermometer out to check nightly temp and will put out according.

So I figured I need a place to document my on going struggle to get a auto strain that is acclimated to my area. I'm going in to season six the seeds are f7s. I will pick the best looking guys and girls to mate. Right now they are under a 400 and a 600. Will go in to my 10x20 greenhouse in a week or so. They are planted in 20 oz cups the tiered with the bottom 2 or 3 inches is a tlo. The soil I used for the seed starter was sunshine number 4 from home depot (which had some kinda larvae that eat some of the seeds. I sprayed the soil twice with a light dose of Azatrol. Also I feed them a little kelp also.View attachment 556382

doubt very much you end up with crap

llynnboy how goes it. I have worked these seeds over 7 generations to be cold tolerant. I have another thread called "fun in a tub". And you can see some pics of last years seed run. They generally grow 2.5 to 3 ft tall and pretty fat. I'm super excited to see this year. Thanks for coming along for this ride....

frost, freeze, snow could happen any month, but seems like getting warmer and more stable for growing
