Females have XX, males are XY, think you got that flipped.Reversing a female with CS or STS is a different animal than breeding with a herm (intersex) the intersex plant will have both X & Y chromosomes. A reversed female only has Y chromosomes to pass on. Proper breeding habits do not make intersex (herm) offspring. If neither line of the parent strains have the gene, you don't get herm offspring.
The issue is poor breeding practices 50 years ago. They found breeding with herms gave you mostly femmed seeds... and it spread like wildfire. The vast majority of the popular photo strains out there have been polluted with the gene. The more we bring those genetics to auto, the more we pollute the autoflowers. Blueberry anything, gg#4, gelato, just a couple of the strains that carry the hermaphrodite gene.
The way I remember is, "women are cross and men are wise." It works phonetically...
