My tent is small 3ft high 2ft wide....have mars hydro 300 reflctor.
Seems like it was to strong for small plants but could i use in say week 5 ?
Gonna use cfl for first 5 but not sure if id mess them up by putting it over small indica autos if only 12 inches away....

Probably going to need to be a lot closer than 12 inches with CFL.

I would snag a 25$ light meter off Amazon so you don't have to guess how close your CFLs should be. The light meter should measure 20,000 lux or more right above their heads.

Watch your temperature in the tent using CFLs as they are a little warm.

CFLs will really only get you a few weeks in though at the most in a space that is 2x3 before they become impractical. You can probably do it, but it will take quite a few CFLs and the heat might become difficult to manage.

A T5 florescent grow fixture would work through all of veg if you find one that fits in your tent.

Do you think my led will be to bright once plants are established with cfls? Gonna lst em....but think from top of pot to light il only have 18.5 inches.....

It can take them some time to get used to it, and if the change happens too fast it can be bad for sure...

18 inches should be plenty with that light I would think, but hard to say.

What symptoms were you seeing that make you think too much light is the issue?

I'm thinking you should be able to use that LED start to finish if you can start it 24 inches above their heads.

I had bigger tent 6ft high moved and gave to buddy.....he gave me his maller 2x2x3ft tent and said i should only use cfl that my mars hydro reflecyor 240w 48pcs 5w diode be to close for seedlings and veg so before i set up wanted to ask around

I did tey some autos beginning of summer with little ventilation and they were stunted wilted etc dude said lights but i thought heat plus light so now i got fans etc ready to rock just not sure if i should go with a bunch of cfl or the led

In a 3 ft tent you can probably make cfl work. 2x2x4 tents are also pretty common and not too pricey. I've purchased OK ones for under 50$.

I think the LED should work if you actually have 18 inches headroom. CFLs should work, but you probably need 70-100 watts worth of well placed CFLs for each plant and that might become a heat issue.

Wilting can be a sign of light stress but it can also be a sign of a lot of things, it's hard to say.

Seedlings really don't need a lot of light, right now I have girls that are hip height, cobs 30" above those, and a couple seedlings on the floor. I'd probably run the Mars high, and let them grow into it.

Going to start seeds with acouple 23w cfl and acouple screw in 9w led bulbs with bulbs cut off...
