Sounds like some of the ones around here. The biggest grower in the county is the Sheriff's son. Unless you give them a reason to look at you they will pretty much leave you alone.

The mayor around here was busted for selling, and growing marijuana. The police chief was dirty too. They have replaced almost all major officials here.
