nice work seymour..

i think you should run on somemore as your constantly giving out top info.. i totally think scrog lst is the way forward with the oxypot, seems plants get plenty tall enough to make a nice size screen, especially under your leds!! if i dont mess it up i will soon have a lst'd oxy auto :booya: i have to agree formulex started my plant off nicely, i didnt quite run ec so high as it burnt my plant at 0.8.. im also with you on the res change too, 7 days is plenty, not only is it good for the nutes but you have to keep these pots clean, slight nute/salt buildup occrs in mine so a weekly clean is a must otherwise levels become unstable, i learnt this problem growing chillis. lovin your grow seymour i'll pop in shortly see how your getting on:drool:

ADZ.. the oxypot is great once you understand the whole process inside out. like i just mentioned i grew chillis first just to understand the process a bit.. im forever learning new stuff everyday and its amazing. theres plenty of people hear on the afn who are more than kind enough to help you through your grow.. best of luck:thumbs:

peaceout my brothers..

Does anyone know what a Formulex alternative would be that could be purchased here in the states?

Hi Seymour,

Your photo’s taken from the side really give some perspective to the plant, it looks great. I too have been really interested to hear of the way you use deep-water-culture pots. Like you say, plenty of bubbles in the water make all the difference.

SCROG would be the supreme method of productivity with your set up. But, in your case I reckon you could fill a screen perhaps 3-4 times as big as the one you have in the photo.

The best scrog growers never let a growing tip from the plant poke through the screen, only the actual bud heads themselves are allowed through the mesh, EVERYTHING else stays below the wire. When done perfectly the only thing above the screen is a couple of hundred individual bud heads all about the same height.

In your case Seymour, I would aim for a SCROG screen roughly the same size as the LED array, if not bigger. That way you can lower the LED panel really close, so that the SCROG screen and the LED panel make a perfect sandwich with the buds in the middle.

The reason I think you would excel with SCROG is that you would have all the bud heads, in theory, equidistant from the LED panel. This is an advantage over HPS SCROG gardeners. With HPS the buds directly below the HPS are closer than the buds on the edge of the screen. Conversely, with an LED panel above the screen you have all the bud equidistant to the LEDs. So I guess I am saying that LED and scrog are made for each other.

I saw an Australian grower use a wire mesh that was fastened to a bedstead and he filled the thing completely with a plant. The screen and frame were made of steel and the weight of it prevented the plant from ‘lifting it’. It was hard work, he was in his growroom everyday tucking the grow tips back under the mesh. With scrog you often see growers accidentally allow the growing tips of plants poke through the mesh. This is a no-no, once the growing tip is allowed the freedom to grow vertically it forces the grower to hoist the lamp up. That in turn reduces light intensity for the rest of the buds, and reduces the efficiency of the process. The original thinking behind scrog was to get the dream scenario of all buds being equidistant to the light.

Some stealthy growers even have scrog grows in their back gardens, it is one way of dealing with hight issues. And of course if the scrog frame is well camouflaged your plant is well disguised from prying eyes

So if you ever go for scrog think about a bigger screen, having seen you grow monster plants you would fill it for sure. One other thing to be careful about is ensuring you have plenty of airflow UNDER the screen so the leaves can breathe properly in the cramped conditions.

One advantage of photoperiod strains is that they can be frequently topped (the growing tip cut off to create 2 or more new ones) to make monster scrog grows.

Ps Seymour, is thereany way to edit the title of the thread so it says “Think Different in DWC…”rather than “TD in DWC….”? …..just for the future….

Anyway, fantastic stuff Seymour, I know there a few weeks to go but this is a great exhibition grow from a grower at the top of his game with a growroom which the average stoner would die for.

ADZ – many thanks for the kind words man. Here at Dutch Passion we take our work pretty seriously and you won’t be disappointed with Think Different. Just going back to the %THC debate, even within the Dutch Passion team there is a wide spread of taste in favourite strains. A couple of the guys say that Euphoria is their favourite, simply because they have found the euphoric happy high is unlike any other. One of our top breeders likes Skunk#11 as it is a high he feels comfortable with, strong but not crazy. Yet neither Euphoria nor Skunk#11 are the most potent varieties available. That’s the beauty of growing different varieties, you can experience them and gradually select your own favourites. That’s also one of the reasons we carefully select the strains which make it into our catalogue, we try to have something that suits everyone.

peace

hey thai buddha man , there are a few alternatives to formulex like canna start and vitalink plant start and i also know that clonex do a similar feed over in the states for seedlings

the only advantage that it gives me by using a seedling feed is that i can have it their straight from the word go, i know some growers like to run full veg nutes at 1/4 dosage but the seedling feed contains different ratios and other micro nutrients, its juts one of those habits that ive got, i also love soaking my 1" rockwool cubes in root stim with added seedling mix if that helps

the same thing in the uk, you cant get a cal/mag suppliment over here but over in the usa you cant get quite a few, i was looking the other week to try and help a grower who was using r/o water and told him to get a cal/mag suppliment, eventually i found advanced nutrients cal/mag but its not like we have loads to choose from

yeah cheers tony, my aim was to run the auto mazar under a scrog screen at some point and try and go for maximum yield purely because she gets to the size thats easy for training to the screen, those frames that i posted pics of are not screens for scrogging they are screens for lst , with the dwc buckets i have nothing to tie the plants to but with those frames i can let the seedlings grow through the mesh and then start tieing them down and open them up, space is my biggest issue and if i can keep my plants well trained and uniform then the results will be even better but these ideas are for a whole other grows

im suprised at how bushy the "think different" has stayed because normaly plants easily out grow my space but i think a lot of this has to do with the added silica i used in veg which gave the plants a much stronger frame to hold the buds so im not really complaining

i definatly wanna run this strain again as she is pretty straight forward to grow, having worked out what they like and what they dont like makes it easier to push them to the maximum capabilities

cheers for all the commets and feedback from everyone its appreciated as always ;)
