Seeking advice on best humidifier for 4x2 grow tent.

Humidify the whole room to around 50-55% works better than wasting space inside the tent to humidify when the exhaust is going to continuously pull it out. Intake is pre humidified so whatever air goes in is right.

Depending on the size of the room you can buy a whole room humidifier that will make the entire room comfortable. Then you don't have to mess with it in your tent.
When you mention exhaust and intake you're referring to the filter and inline fan? If so, should I have that on all the time? Your idea of a humidifier in my small bedroom and not in the tent would be a benefit for the plants as well as me, but could you please help me with some details like what humidifier to get? I already have the one pictured below, but I would like one with setting controls.
And please, I really don't know what I'm doing other than watering them twice a day (dampening only the top soil), 18 hours of light a day, and turning on the filtered inline fan when it gets too hot in there. I also have a small fan in there circulating the air 24/7. Sincere thanks for any and all input.

I don't understand your watering schedule. From @Mañ'O'Green :

What you need to learn about watering will come with practice. Here are the basic rules: Never let the soil dry out. Soil and or coco can become hydrophobic if allowed to dry. This means it repels water. This in turn will create dry pockets in the soil and the roots and microbes will die there. If your soil - coco have accidentally dried out use a surfactant to help re-wet it. I like yucca powder. Don't let soil remain soggy by watering too much too often. Root rot, damping off, molds, fungus gnats and other problems start in soggy soil. When you do water water the entire pot. How to learn when to water starts before you plant the seed. Fill your container with fresh soil/coco and weigh it (heft it) this is the lightest weight and consider it a dry pot. Now slowly water until the soil/coco will no longer absorb the water and run-off begins; weigh the pot (heft it) this is the maximum water, the wettest the pot can get. The difference between wettest and driest is the maximum water weight, for ease of explanation lets just say the water weighs 20 pounds. When the pot loses 10 pounds (half of the water weight) it is time to water again. There is an art to watering.

I'd look at one of these evaporative humidifiers. They don't put out a stream of steam that could soak some of your plants. They are basically a swamp cooler so they will help with cooling as well.

Use this chart as a guide
The chart is like Chinese to me :). I'm looking to spend like $70-80 for a humidifier. The unit (swamp cooler) you describe sounds like it would be loud. Is that true?

That one has 3 speeds low is quiet- my bedroom is my grow room- high speed is loud. You could prolly get away with one of the smaller countertop units for a tent. The one thing I don't like is you can't use the inkbirds or a timer as it won't come back on when it loses power. You have to manually start it. The newer units may not work that way

I've been dampening the top soil every morning an evening from the beginning. How should I move forward? Should I start what you have described or adjust it according to what I've been doing all this time. I'm really bummed that I'm fucking it all up.. again.
So, when you say it's time to water again (at 10 lbs) I should add 10 lbs more of water?
Please help me out with how to move forward with watering. I don't want to drown them or anything else that happens with too much watering, but I don't want to starve them. These two are the biggest I've grown so far and I don't want to mess shit up. Thanks for taking the time.

Made in USA too. Can't beat that. My Evap 40 saved my ASS this run. Today it was down to 10% RH in Southern California, Evap40 is holding me at the perfect RH in the grow. I also have one of their floor fans that has lasted ages that I use in the living room.
Hey neighbor hahaa yep I’m here too and turned on the humidifier last night for the first time in a couple weeks. I’m surrounded by ocean so rh is never a problem in my garage. It’s basically an insulated bedroom though, I walled off the door opening and it’s a man cave now lol

AIRCARE Space-Saver Evaporative Whole House Humidifier (2,300 sq ft) Amazon product ASIN B087KN4D8S
This is my favorite. I understand the asked of control but this one has a digital controller that maintains a decent range. Humidity gets low here in the winter and I'm able to keep the room at 50-60% for a 14x20.

When you set the tent up the exhaust is at the top but the intake is passive as there might be a flap left open to reduce negative pressure or the walls sucking in. I run my fans 24/7 for a constant fresh air but yes, higher humidity would improve quality of life in general.

@Exidor :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:The sonic humidifiers cannot do the job and you will need to fill them way too often. This is the one I use. Use distilled or RO water in it. ONLY. get an extra filter to have on hand.

Your soil has likely gone dry and hydrophobic from not watering ALL of the soil. Microbes and roots in dry soil are dead.

Think about it like this you are not watering the plant! You are watering the soil microbes and they live in every cubic centimeter of soil. The microbes in turn feed the plant.

Slowly wet ALL of the soil until run-off begins. You most likely will need a surfactant to help rewet the soil. I use yucca. Some Recharge will help with the microbe life.

:goodluck:

PS those moisture meters are worthless.
