It looks too wet to me. Does it smell sour? Your symptoms can be root rot. Get some Botanicare HydroGuard.

It’s not that for sure! I still see them growing more and more outta the top of soil and super white plus no smell! Soil stays moist up top cuz of type of box it is! The soil wicks the water up outta internal reservoir keeping itself at correct moisture (similar to auto pots except no valve and soil does the work)! My issue is that deficiency I assume is from ph going too high by not ph’ing my nute solution after adding Agsil16 potassium silicate! The question I had was should I just tear some roots up if need be so I can slurry test some soil to get the ph level? I know that’s how to do it but never had roots like this encasing the soil!

For yuks and giggles, did you check water runoff? Looks like the same kind of issue I've been having- starts at top and goes down. My runoff ph was like 4.3. I may have been using too much em1.

No cuz the only runoff I get hasn’t really made any soil contact just down fill tube and out the overflow hole! Could maybe somewhat get a reading that way if I fill reservoir before it gets to totally empty next time! LOOKS LIKE I MAY NEED TO BUY MYSELF A PH PROBE FOR CHRISTMAS!
Oh @Mañ'O'Green i use slf100 on a weekly basis so roots seem nice and healthy still!

Also that’s kinda dry compared to how it can get but think these earthboxes are made so soil stays at 100millibars of moisture if my brains working correct at the moment! Why they can make a handful of worms turn into a giant ecosystem if u run multi rounds back to back! I did 3 in a row and had huge handfuls of castings when I finally dumped box out!

What is slf100? If you had root rot it would be where the air cannot get to the roots it is a anaerobic organism and would not infect the entire pot. It seems you know you have not been doing PH properly so there is that?

I used agsil16 potassium silicate and never ph’d the solution but only used once a week! Was told the silica in it would shoot ph up! My main question is am I safe to just pull some roots out with some soil so I can slurry test it?
And slf100 is a root enzyme

Looked up the SLF-100 it is not the same as HydroGuard which is a beneficial bacteria, Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens. This out-competes bad bacteria.

@Arthur knows about the slf100! He recommended it back in the day! Im gonna go ahead and grab the other just to be safe but quite sure it’s ph! Won’t hurt to add some good stuff for the roots! Just was told in past not to disturb the roots so why I wanted to hear if it was ok 1st to just tear some up if need be so I can get soil to slurry test! Once I get ph then I will know if it’s deeper issue! Looks like it’s manganese which is from high ph or excess iron (def don’t have excess iron ) so wanna test it with what I got (which is not a probe just a pen )
