Ordered bunch of seeds from ShortStuff via dopeseeds.
Decided to germinate Snowryder first:
First batch 5 seeds - all seeds opened, only 2 properly germinated other - stunned.
Second batch - 4 seeds - all opened - 2 germinated so far. The rate 50% doesn't make me very happy, counting that those are the regular seeds and should be less "capricious"
Germination method - soaking in the towel, transfer to soil on the sign of opening. To the skeptics - I always was successful using this method including germinating "bud seeds" that didn't even look viable

The seeds are obviously weak. The growth rate differs significantly. The seeds size differs significantly. Makes me wonder about quality control from Shortstuff or the storage practices at dopeseeds. Will keep the thread updated

Its a bitter pill to swallow @seedling101 , I cant speak for Shortstuff but can say that I have had even worse returns with another seedbank: RQS (#fuckyourqs).
Prior to me using them I was at almost 100%. (Including 20 odd 5 year old seeds) started with them and it has dropped so far (with RQS seeds I have had 3 successes from 20 seeds)

Most seed banks offer some level of germination guarantee but have found such assurances next to worthless. Reckon RQS skinned me for about £80 quid in total.

In general I don't trust them at all, sadly.
But, as a positive side effect: I've started getting my own pollen for seeds...

Good luck

I would like to thank you for the kind words - nothing damages growers confidence more than weird and erratic behavior of the seeds, especially when allegedly it should be from a reputable supplier . It is truly sad that your wisdom comes out of own negative experience. In your support - I had heard of very similar experiences with RQS and it was one of the reasons I chose not to use them. I am afraid with the current trend own breeding will be a necessity very very soon.

It is very hard to separate those early failings when starting out: my confidence with seeds is still shakey at best.

You should see the emails between me n RQS.
In truth seed quality was far from my only problem...
I have spent last 4 months trying to get my review on trust pilot published because I put in stuff they did but didn't own up to: apparently even though I have emails proving what I said happened (they broke the law, adding fake transactions to my account totalling €1300 without telling me) but only allowed to publicise if sued them first.
Nightmare from start to finish.

I now simply buy 20 quids worth at a time and hope for the best...

I got 4 seeds off weedseedshop in their 420 sale (50% off) and I have dropped 2 so far (GSC & Trainwreck) both going really well, so I've found a few new strains to mess around with (and possibly some more pollen chucking)
:d5:

I've grown Short Stuff a few times and never had a problem. I suggest you buy your seeds from better known seedbanks. The seeds you bought could be old and some seedbank like this one will sell old seeds to get rid of them. And you can't complain to them about germination and they know it! Buy either direct from the breeder or a seedbank like The Vault or Linda Seeds,

Good day @pop22
Dope seeds is linked to Shortstuff as reseller in Europe. The site is opening when you click Buy, directly from Short stuff website.

So in that respect I did the best I could. The seeds are no good. At least Snowryder. While it is the first time I am dealing with auto-flower strains, I had grown multiple photo strains before. Even how uneven seeds are - literally few seeds were twice less in size than the other suggests that "everything goes"

@Jimmythenugg - what a nightmare you are describing. Fake transactions - another step to lowering the bar.

The end result - out of 11 seeds 4 failed, the rest turned out to be males.
