New Grower Second Timer - DP Auto Night Queen In DWC

That's pretty strong feed mate. What you wanna do is cut off the top off res so it's just the main res feeding the plants. Measure the ppm of that over a couple days and that will let you know how strong to make the feed. Or ask and i can tell you. By using a top up res mixed in your getting a false reading that doesn't actually tell you anything useful.
I imagine in doing that your ppm will rise massively. I'd be putting about 600-700 in there. Figure out the magic number by measuring just the res and then you just make the top off the same strength.
Waste a lot less nutes if you can keep the ppm dropping slightly cos you don't have to change it as often. Just let it run almost dry cos the mix wont be getting any strongdr and won't get any problems.
That all make sense?

I suspect I’m on the edge of a calmag issue myself all the time. I’m using high ppm tap and full strength calmag and manage to get a touch of this every once in a while ... but between the blurple and the 4 cobs and the size of the plants I’m not surprised.

Yep, that is Calcium def for sure. Not a killer, just got to get ahead of it if you can. Look at ingredients in your nutes and see if one of them has Calcium in it, if none do, and you are only adding a little Cal Mag, I suggest you double that amount.

It does make sense, but I have learned that leaving the top off tank at the same strength results in massive increase in ppms during the week. As I wrote, I have been starting at 1100 the last three weeks, after increasing slowly and not seeing nute burn. This past week was the first week that ppms actually DECREASED during the week from 1100 to under 1000. And this is the first time we have seen this issue, it just didn't make sense that it was burn, and seemed to look like P or K deficiency.

I changed the reservoir before posting pics.

She looks light in her color. Maybe she is low on Cal and that could lock out Mag and K. Give her a nice feed and let's see.

I changed the reservoir and reset the nutes. i do need to have to top off tank working, as I am gone for a week. I just need to figure out, do I want the ppms to rise slightly through the week, where they were most happy, or continue to set for a decrease. Have to rule out defieicnies before setting the top off tank. Right now it isn't empty until I decide.

I have never had to use Cal Mag, but do have some just in case. I also posted in the infirmary. Need to make a game time decision for e top off tank. Should I err on less or more?

When did you switch to bloom nutes?

Yep! I was pretty sure that’s what it was. My tap water is very hard, 320 ppm. My calmag says to dose it at 3-5 mL per gallon and I dose it at the top. I generally top off with half strength nutes, but when I see these little spots pop up, I put everything at half strength except the calmag which goes full bore. Staves it off for a bit.

WIth AN you don't switch to Bloom nutes, you only supplement with BIG BUD during flower. I just added to the reservoir for the first time today, as I have a suspicion that the plant wanted more P or K because it was starting to flower. I think this is the other thing that changed this week, so my gut tells me the bigger and slightly more advanced plant needed more P and K. This is why I am very skeptical of decreasing nutes further.

Yeah but your missing the point lol. If you feed the right strength the ppm will drop even with full strength in the top off. It’ll be about 700 for the magic number. It’s dropping because your putting week feed into it. Nothing to do with what the plants absorbing so measuring the ppm is useless information. You often get lots of deficiencies from too strong a feed because lots of things can block each other out. I’m not sure which blocks which but will be a thread on here somewhere. Because things are lacking people assume it’s a deficiency so up the dose which makes it worse. I’m obsessive about my reservoirs mate, keep them on a 10% drop every day and never get any issues.
An unbalanced res can cause lots of hard to diagnose symptoms. Mainly because a lot of people just don’t understand what’s really going on in the solution. Takes a while to get the hang of it but it’s easy enough once you get the “ahah” moment.

Well that makes perfect sense. About to have a bud explosion, have to add some dynamite. Nice problem to have.

I have my fingers crossed you get your strawberry pheno.

So I just want to understand. Are you recommending a 700ppm for a mature plant? And then how do you dose your add back?
