Second ever microgrow - yellow problems

I don't think it would calmag this early also if you can get a good ec meter it will help so much as I'd like to know what your run off is saying as any problem s that's your best tools to fix it

I will go to the grow shop tomorrow and get an essentials one at least then I can rule out any issues.

just a quick update - just been and checked on my cabinet and I think this may have been a little bit too much stress for the young girl as her first two sets of leaves Are now dying away!!! All the other girls ( 7 in total ) have been receiving the same nutes and they are all looking incredibly healthy. Possibly just one of those seeds that never make it happen

i think once you have a good ph and ec meter your plants can tell you so much just from runoff anyhow keep me posted buddy

So I thought I’d give you a little update on the situation, all the other plants have survived and are thriving but this one little yellow plant I’ve decided to keep and just continue the feeding exactly the same as all other 5 plants as explained - the only change being; buying some non organic cal/mag and adding them onto the auto recirculating dropper system.

The result is this mutated but somewhat beautiful looking miniature.

Will upload more pictures in the morning

No worries Chief!! -Understand on the micro growing, it's tougher than full size growing and takes care and discipline! I've tried it a few times!!

I'll tag a couple of people in who may have better insight than me
@St. Tom can certainly rock a cup grow (and with canna coco) .... Check out his threads, maybe inspirational!
@Vapo ... using tiny pots and getting good returns!! Worth a look at!!

Your meter is fine - i used one for years before I decided to free myself from the shackles of meters and technology   ... (so basically "winging it!").
Good reliable meters!!

I'm outta ideas other than it's possibly a salt build up causing PH lockout ... but if it is, you've done the right thing putting some PH'd water and feed through it!

When you say ph'd water, what do you mean exactly?

When you say ph'd water, what do you mean exactly?

Water that comes from the tap (or bottle) has a PH value to it (which means how acidic or alkaline the water is), but not all water has the correct PH for nutirent uptake, so it needs to be adjusted to make it either more acidic or more alkaline.

Depending on whether you're growing in soil, or a soliess medium (like coco) will have a bearing on how you need to adjust your water for the best nutrient uptake for your plant.

Mostly people need to make their water more acidic, so using PH down. This can come as nitric acid (best for veg) or Phosphoric acid (better for flower) .. OR if your going organic, you'd want to use Citric acid (lemon juice) so not to kill your organic microherd.

Hope this explains things a little!

All the Best

Soil range would be 6.2 - 6.5
Coco or hydro range would be 5.8 to 6.2 (although i may need to defer to regular coco growers for better guidance)

Very helpful. Thanks for the info!

You're most welcome!

Just a bit more. To measure the PH, you'll need a reliable and calibrated PH meter. Bluelabs make very good ones, but they're expensive. A cheaper option is Essentials, they're also good quality.

Soil with lime in it (like biobizz and a lot of other soils) will "buffer" the PH .. which means automatically adjust themselves (within reason), but coco and hydroponics won't.
So in some respects soil can be more forgiving.

Using FFHF and have been watering as needed(possibly too much), up until 2 days ago(slowed down on the watering). Usually get water from tap and let sit before watering(not sure exactly what that does but was told to do so). I do not have a ph meter but suspected lockout to be the issue from the get go. Do you think the lemon juice would be the best solution?

It lets the Chlorine "gas off" .. (dissapear) - It's a common thing to do, and i do myself. I've seen there have been tests of chlorinated water vs non chlorinated water with little difference. Better safe than sorry i guess!

It's "an" option, although it doesn't hold PH as stable as Nitric acid would. If you're using chemical nutes, i would buy a nitric acid PH down if needed. Be aware it's very strong and usually administed in drops (depending on your water volume) .. so it's a try and test thing. (dont spill it! or on your nails or they'll have yellow spots which need to grow out! lol...from experience)

Just to caveat, I personally don't adjust PH anymore as i know my water quality in combination with my soil is fine from the tap for growing. City water is usually hard and a high PH so needs to be adjusted.
