Good morning to all------- I have a question about refilling the charcoal in a 6" scrubber. I got 5lb's of activated coconut charcoal for $28.00 from E-Bay with a 3 dollar off cupon, thought that would do it, but it was kinda fine stuff and only filled a little over half way, just tryin to save $. now iv'e got to order more to fill the rest of the way up. I was wondering if any one has got a cheaper way to go, maybe a cheep trick. It's going to cost about the same as a brand new unit? I live in a legal state, just tryin to be nice to the people next to me.

Morning man so I kinda just went through exact same problem with a friend I told him could get some bag was way to small but enough of investment don't wanna say screw it but only way seems to make sense price wise is to buy enough to fill it 10 times which is the price of 5 new whole filters so anyway what we ended up doing was washing old stuff i found a forum Someone had method that worked for them so we tried that mixed it with stuff we bought he said it worked enough for him said he would be willing to try just try the wash and bake method again just to see but if not he gonna just buy big bag pellets or new filter depending on cash flow I'm assuming lol.

Thank's man, I read that link, no way with all that jazz. Maybe there is no magical fix. I threw away the old pellit's that were in it before I got the new stuff. I bet I could have mixed those with the new stuff and it might have been ok.. It just seem's that you could refill that carbon for a lot less than buying a new one. Oil Well---Thank's again man, grow & learn, I appreciate you takin the time---Happy Trail's & good luck with all your grow's-----

Hey just a heads up, we don't typically allow linking to other cannabis forum from AFN :pighug:

Regenerating carbon isn't something most people have the means to do at home; I followed that link and read Emilya's advice and I don't agree with what she thinks is happening. Washing your carbon isn't regenerating it nor is 500 degrees adequate to burn off bonded particles in the various pore sizes (more like 900 degrees F minimum, and most carbon is activated through heated steam.). You'd be better off dumping the old, used carbon and putting in fresh carbon if you're going to go that route (and that should work adequately.)

That's a little different than washing it and putting it in back in your scrubber hoping it's cleaned and fresh enough to do it's job of removing odors :pighug:
