Week 4

Hello all,
Things seem to be completely back on track. The plants are healthy and doing fine. The male started dropping pollen in a separate room, might hang on to that and knock up a branch.
The sole surviving White Sirus is the tallest coming in at 6" and a ph of 6.49. Any pointers about topping? Stitch had mentioned that' given my 2' max grow height.

Then we have my three Purple Mazars, one is a small pot yield experiment though it is the tallest of the 3. Ph is 6.7 for all. The Plants also have little bits of yellow on the tips of new growth, gotta go look that one up.

I'm glad to be back on track and growing.

From the look of it I have a potassium deficiency. Guess I'll do a feeding next water? I've never tried a foliar feeding, since I just watered is that what I should do as a stop gap until next watering?

Week 5

Hello all.
It's amazing how much can change in a couple days of not checking the grow.
The white Sirius was showing mg def spots, the mazars are potassium def and all the ph was in the low 6 range. So everybody got lime and nutes, and ws got cal mag.
Also my male ws dropped pollen so bitches are getting pregnant. I pollinated a couple low branches on the ws and one of the mazars. I wonder what a white sirus x purple mazar will be like? Purple sirus or white mazar haha.
Not much has changed growth wise except for some janky leaves here and there so pics next week. I imagine they'll all shoot up for the final stretch soon.

Week 6

Well, I'm a little embarrassed to post pics. This grow is going poorly. I think my beginners luck on my first two grows has worn off. I'm at a loss so if anyone want to offer input as to how to straighten this out I'd appreciate it.
A couple weeks ago everything was fine. Now I have severe yellowing, like it was week 10. Ph is all mid 6's for all the plants. They are all too small for week 6 as well.
I watered last night, the previous water they all got grow nutes at 1/2 strength (which was their first feeding).

My best guess' for my troubles are : I've never grown in the summer before (don't think I will again), heat may be stunting growth, temps are mid to high 80's. Second I don't think I reacted fast enough at the first signs of nitrogen or potassium def, I'm always afraid of nute burn, I think I play it a little too cautiously. And third the ffof is a year or so old, does it go bad?
Anyhow I hope I see a couple oz's off these 4 plants at this point, I'm worried I won't even see that much.

*edit: after my post I decided to do a 3/4 strength feeding, risking nute burn seems like the better gamble over 3 or 4 days until next water to feed deficient plants.

you waited till week 6 to give them thier first feed ? and only half strength ?

depending on the strain/plant and its vigor ive given full feed by week 2

my soiless has no ferts though mind you , not even slow release ones , maybe yours did/does ?

imo you plants are starving

I'm growing in OF, they got nutes starting week 5. I transplant in week 3.5, in the past I got a little nute burn given the time frame from seedling to fresh soil. Dunno maybe a little nute burn was the downside in the past but i didn't notice the upside was lush plants. I think the light was too strong too. any hoo thanks for the input man, this is my third grow so I guess I'm still working it out.

Sorry to here your girls are poorley mate. That why i like using my organic nuteless soil (bio bizz light mix) i can controll all her feeds from the start to the end i wasnt sure about using it at first as it was so plain but it actual works very well im on my 3rd grow also and things couldnt be going any better (hope it lasts) i hope you get your girls sorted out mate :thumbs: healing Karma sent

Thats a good point si I'm all out of ffof so i'll be re-upping my soil next grow. Maybe I'll give that a try. Its alway a tough call as to when to feed. I feel like the soil runs low right at the start of full flower, never giving me a chance to get any real grow nutes in there without burn, and they go a little yellow as a result (though this time was exceptionally bad).

Update: No pics but I have healthy deep green new growth as all the yellow leaves shrivel and fall off. So it looks like the plants are all recovering but I'll def see lower yields and they're all stunted to under a foot. Though the Purple Mazar that is in the 1 gallon pot is the biggest oddly enough, and not much smaller than any of my previous PM despite half the pot size.

I think I have a fair assessment for what went wrong:
I suspect the biggest offender was probably too much light. I upgraded from CFLs to a 450 watt HPS a few weeks into full flower last grow and I was timid about full power until the last few weeks of the grow. Since last time went so well I thought nothing of full power hps at the start of flower this time. I have a 2'x3' grow space so really 250 watts is all I need. I didn't think there was such a thing as too much light, after looking at plant abuse pics it seemed that mine are more like sun bleached than a deficiency, though I think that is also a factor. I kicked my light back to 50% raised it a few inches, gave them 2 feeds in a row, temps are 80ƒ and plants are recovering.

I'm bummed about the smaller yield likelihood but relieved they all didn't just die. I'm down to like 1/4 oz weed supply and going to have to buy street weed before the grow is ready for the first time in a year, it would have been heartbreaking to have to buy for a few months due to a bad grow. I'm not a medical user, the whole point for me is to never buy weed again. I'm not a fan of the drug trade, its awkward, shady, a pain in the ass, and it supports someone who is likely also selling other truly harmful substances to addicts. Its more about principal than the money. Plus being as mj is not something that should be illegal I hate that I have to feel like a criminal to buy it because I prefer a bowl over a beer after a hard days work. You can call me a hypocrite for saying weed is okay but other drugs are not, but I've seen plenty of lives ended or totally ruined as a result of more harmful stuff. Don't know how I got on that tangent...

Anyway, I'm going camping this weekend! Can't wait to be in the woods for a few days. Cheers all!

On the up side, even though your plants will be smaller that WS will go a long way. I just harvested a runt myself last weekend and had my first taste last night. Holy crap, is it potent. The wife and I smoked a small bowl between us and were both totally wasted. My wife is having some shoulder pain, possibly a torn/strained rotator cuff, totally deadened her pain. I'm still a bit buzzed from it this morning.

Look around and see if you can locate some Pro Mix or some Sunshine #4. Go soil less and take control of your grows.
