Sativa, Indica, Ruderalis - Is it all BS?

Considering the magnitude of inbreed amongst the subspecies..We've reached a point where each and every plant speaks for itself..
Traditional racy sativas with thin narrow leaves can now provide more of an indica type couch lock buzz..while some fat leafed varieties are now providing racy pick me up medicine...

Leaf structure has gone out the window as an indicator of the terpene and cannabinoid profiles that have traditionally been the norm.

Good info. thanx,,,I’ve noticed on some autos listed as 60-70% Indica dominant or so, spiked traditional Sativa leave structure, but the Trychomes are smaller in structure & many & they always seem to be on the higher potency strains—Gorilla Glue, Gelato, etc. (I’m referring to the Capitate stalked type trychome) vs some are bigger & fewer on other plants...extensive research has turned nothing up!!! Other than the different types of trychomes, but again I’m only referring to the Capitate stalked type.
Have u noticed that?

I just got approved to be a member here but have huge history on many pot forums and 40+ years growing good bud.

For the first time ever I'm putting some auto fems outside this year. I'm way up in northern Alberta so reg photo plants never work here.

I'm doing 5 each of Earth Lover and Loco-Mota from a breeder known as Sebring. I've already grown out 4 of his hi-CBD fems called Sebring's Revenge and way happy with the cocobudder I make with it. I just trim off anything without sugar and freeze the buds to make cocobudder later. Just ask if you want more info.

I'll be putting the scarified seeds directly into the soil. It's a raised garden that the wife has been growing onions, leeks and garlic in for the last 5 years. I'm going to add 1 - 107L bale of ProMix HP, the same bale of just peat moss and about that much 3-yo chicken manure. We have 50+ chickens and 4 plots of compost that we rotate around the veg garden. Ever seen a 2ft carrot. lol

:peace:

I havent focused on differentiated Trichomes per se ..I tend to focus more in general trichome density as a whole...
Density like this...Pineapple Express Fast Buds

Interesting story for you all, while visiting my friends out on their farm in Northern Illinois (I think 1978)...I got out of my old Ford150 & noticed a dog tearing something apart, under closer look a realized it was a blue square package with sticks in it...well the light bulb went off & I realized Hey that’s weed or something So I got the dog away by throwing a stick, picked up the torn up package & it was old dried out Thai sticks—then I realized another package torn up & Thai sticks everywhere. So grabbed the dog & went inside only to find my older friends eating lunch & high as kites...
So it turns out the younger brother of one of them worked for the City of Cary Il. & moves the police dept to their new location the last several days
Well Steve discovered the grey metal evidence locker & removed the back & properly removed the evidence as any good citizen would :yoinks::woody:
Well the only thing he took were the Thai stick bricks. They were old & very dry, but no mold...They had left them on the porch & didn’t realize the dog found a chew toy. We picked up all Thai sticks we could find, pretty funn tv bunch of long hairs on hands & knees, my reward was a baggy full...I can’t recall exactly how much they had, but I think it was like 2 pounds & as old & dry it still did the trick for you
:funny:
I’m enjoying these fruity strains on the market, so I’ve ordered Colloidal Silver & am going to start crossing some diff strains (Have a Zkittlez plant ~121 days old & extremely fruit loop smell/taste from a top I cut 10 days ago. So grow some more along with Zkittlez & Tangie Matic, cross pollinate & hopefully a year from now I’ll have Fruitalacious...what the hell why not???
(I’ll still support the seed suppliers because of the broad selection)!
I make my own Thai sticks now with fresh bud dried 3 days on it’s original 5-6” stalks work best 16th inch thick
& fresh frozen shaved hash using a zuster & good parchment paper- roll it all up like a joint (bud 1st unroll shave hash onto paper & reroll it & dry/cure just like a proper bud cure (But, since the inner bud with the hash coating is still sticky/moist I’ll use a heater blowing nearby for a few hours first couple of days then to the glass canning jar lid cracked for a few days then sealed & burped the next couple of weeks (what I’ve found is the natural bud crystallized & glued itself to the hash, and dried as one pc., kinda patting myself on my back, but my friends were impressed as they keep trying to remove them from me na na na, they only get instructions on the process picture attached

Show off...:drool::drool::drool:
Just made this puppy last night with Gelato by Fast Buds...
Finished off with a coating of Hash...wrapped back up & open air curing for 3 days, then to the glass jar
for daily burping...☠️

In the 1970's everything I had access to was Mexican, Colombian and once Hawaiian I got direct from the island. Those were all considered Sativa. Except for the Hawaiian, all the weed I smoked in those days had seeds.

Now, every thing I have smoked or grown is seedless so far as I either used feminized seeds or destroyed the male plants when using regular seeds. Everything I have grown has been advertised as hybrids or indicas.

For the most part I get high by smoking very little. The plants I grow give me nice yields and frosty buds and sugar leaves and is some of the best looking and smelling weed I have ever had.

But....it never gives me the same high when smoked that I always experienced back in the 1970's and 1980's when I use to get the seedy Mexican and Colombian weed common in those days. The weed of those days was more psychoactive in its effects on me. I actually had hallucinations, paranoia, couch lock where you couldn't move at all, time lapses.

I don't experience any of that with medical dispensary weed I have been given or anything I have grown. Even when letting a plant grow longer than usual.

I have been able to get that effect when I have made edibles though. But since the marijuana has to be metabolized first when ingested as an edible, it takes 30 minutes to two hours before it hits me versus seconds or minutes by smoking where it goes directly into the bloodstream to the brain.

In my opinion, that gives me the feeling that the post above holds more than a grain of truth. Any weed I consume in edibles gives me the same effects that 1970's Sativas did. All those different types of weeds I smoked and liked in the 1970's and 1980's were grown under natural sunlight in Southern latitudes, warmer climates and even when full of seeds seemed more psychoactive than today's high THC strains.

The seedy stuff wasn't run through a trim machine that stole a huge number of trichomes. The trichomes of dispensary cannabis look like the palm trees in Puerto Rico AFTER THE HURRICANES. They are shredded. The processor takes those stripped trichomes and makes edibles from them. I'm guessing that's why the edible effects are so similar to the seedy cannabis from way back when.

Recommend growing your own outdoors organically. I dry the buds and then trim them leaving all the sugar leaves protecting the trichomes on the buds. When you go to vaporize it, carefully trim off the sugar leaves and save them for edibles. Try to touch the buds as little as possible. I use chop sticks and tweezers. The unspoiled buds will get you twice as high as that trim machine stuff they sell in stores.

I grew plenty of auto strains outdoors last year. One photo plant. I just smoked a bowl tonight from the photo plant. It gets me high but not wasted like the old school Mexican, Colombian or Hawaiian. It is an indica from free tester seeds I received from Bad Dawg Genetics. Afgooey 13 or something like that, no idea of the genetics.

I made some edibles from just a mix of trim I had from numerous strains, mostly autos. The olive oil or coconut cannaoil I made from trim would seriously get me wasted. Crawl into bed right now wasted. Curl up in a ball I'm tripping wasted. I didn't know how to dose it and used too much a couple times.

I had two pounds of buds I grew outdoors last Summer. Probably saved a pound of trimmed sugar leaves I used for edibles and an ounce of dry ice hash and about six grams of ice water hash. I gave a bag of buds from my photo plant to the lady that runs a local hydro store just to get rid of it.

I'm going to go out an smoke some Pineapple Express in a few and see what it does.
