@Bob's Auto's I'm after a bit of advise regarding reusing my soil with the biotabs water only method you advised :d5:anyhow what amounts of startrex and silicon flash should I be mixing into each 12 litre pot as new soil its saying 50gram each per 10 litre pot but is it less for used soil or the same also this is the pots and soil I will be using and the 2 new recruits will be potted up soon

Hey brother

That's actually a good question. You should be able to reuse as is. You just need to remove the root stump with a knife and top up with fresh soil and Silicium Flash as described. You can add the Startrex if you want, but you don't need it as the soil is already full of life and inoculated.
Afterward, you can resow in the same pot. Just add the BioTabs and you are done.

What I actually did was to put this 'old' soil in my wormbins and let these little critters feast on the leftovers over the summer. A couple of months ago I harvested all that black gold and mixed this together with a couple of bags of quality soil and perlite. This is the 'living' soil I'm using now. :hump:

so am I only mixing the flash and the startrex in the new soil yes as I emptied both my pots into a big tub and got lots of the stumps and what I could untangle but the soil did look in great condition to be fair

Yes, if you start with fresh soil it's best to use everything as in the manual. The 'bad' soil can still be made perfect. Add some compost worms to the bin and let them do their thing over the winter. Add some fresh vegs waste from the kitchen from time to time and some cardboard and you'll have a bin full of black gold by summertime

all good advice but I normally just use fresh but I wanted to see how the used stuff works and this is what steps I did but more than I needed I emptied both pots into my big tub removed the first 10 cm maybe more off the top and cut all the stump and loads of roots .so I ended up with say 20 litre of used soil so I thinned it out and I added 40 grams of the silicium flash and mixed it through thoroughly so that's way under half it said to use in fresh soil .so now I need to add some fresh soil this I'm going to add startrex to that and 1 biotab and another later down the line

also, I thought I could top dress with the sillicium flash later down the line so let me know your thoughts as I don't want to burn my youngsters as there about 6 days old now in solo cups

You won't be disappointed reusing that 'old' soil brother.
It's chockfull with all them bennies from the previous grow. If you have some enzyme product, like Pure Zyme, add it as well to the soil mix. This will help in digesting them small bits and pieces of root that was left in the old soil.
And like I said, if you reuse the old soil the Startrex isn't necessary. Using only half of the Silicium Flash can't hurt. It's a combo of a fast acting nutrient mix which will show results in mere days and slow release nutrient mix which will last for two months. And you can always top dress the soil with it if need be. Just make sure you work it into the first inch of soil before watering it in.
