I'm trying to get more light to the outside/middle of the plant, without spending any money. If you think this is pointless, then I might take it down. It is costing me more to operate. But I can see more light going though the plant, than before. I don't know, that's why I posted.
I too think that you will be fine ripster. i currently am running mixed and have been for the last 6-8 months. My main is a 250watt hps and my sides are 55 watt T5 or 12 i can't remember but the bulbs are 6700k. So i am running both blue and red in there at all times. I think it helps. You do fantastic with the t5's some of my fav grows so i think this will add some love to the plants in a good way.
If you think about it CMH bulbs give off blue all the way through red even with the color temp being 6500k or so the plants get all spectrums across the board. below is a chart of the CMH (retro white) compared to the right HPS bulb.
I think i am going to give one a go and see how they do my self.
