4 PS. I burned the leaves off of 3 of them. The 4th one is absolutely unaffected . Too bad this pheno did not get crossed. Never had a plant with such solid nugs. And can really be pushed. Was hammered with 1200PPM at a guess just like the others. And it was multiple consecutive feedings.

I've noticed a trend of sort with some breeders, at least the ones I've looked at.
I'm noticing the crosses trending to have higher leaf to bud ratio. A negative when trimming, but I also see that most of these girls are VERY generous with sugar leaf frost. I don't mind the higher ratio if I'm gonna get something more in return.
I think it also means more attention to light penetration and air flow with defol and structure management to get even coverage and opportunity fully fill out all the colas to deliver an overall increase in superior quality bud.

I feel like sugar leaves support bud growth. And fans support stem growth. It is perhaps contrary to popular opinion. Dunno

Selective defoliation is working really well for me 1 my lowers are lookin frosty - I agree with this post as far as LST methods can make or break your yield and they all have different purposes and timings - with the short bushy ones rubber banding the top nodes works really well with the wider ones selective defoliation

I don't see that as being feasible. I do understand where one would come to that conclusion, at least in my knoggin.
What do we usually defol? Fan leaves!

Sometimes I rip a bunch of large sugar leaves creating a stress response. Also gives more light to the bud surface. Right or wrong. Its a theory.

If it's a traditional indica structure, I'm gonna lay her over and manage structure for an even canopy. I only defol for light and airflow.

No one has ever actually shown that severe defol induces a stressor released hormone for "Gotta Procreate" increase in bud production VS Defol only for light and airflow.
In other words, Does the possible hormonal bud increase overcome the increased energy production from maintaining the maximum amount of leaves for greater overall production of bud?
I kinda relate it to growing fruit trees. The higher leaf to fruit ratio, the larger and higher quality of fruit at harvest.
